Hi

Im having trouble using the infra red features of my Sharp GX-10

When i activate the IR and put it next to my IR port on my pc it finds it and ask's for the disk, ive not installed the modem drivers yet.

I cant send any files to the GX-10 via IR, Has vodafone put a block on recieving via IR?

Anyone help?

Vodafone Live! service is free till February!
you can confirm that at you local Vodafone store.

The Irda has been "firewalled" to just allow 'modem' data traffic

Network release codes will be released in November 2003. Lets hope someone cracks it before then

It's charged by both data sent & received.

Does anyone know if the alarms on the GX-10 will work when the phone is off. This is something I really like about Nokias and my first impressions are that the GX-10 doesn't sound the alarm if the phone is off (boo hoo!). This is a very handy when you're travelling as you can leave a separate alarm clock behind.

I'm pretty sure the alarm goes off even when there is no battery. *shrug* GOtta try but a bit too lazy to switch my phone off and wait for 1 min right now

On the subject of GX10 and infrared, it goes like this.

It only has the protocols for data transmission installed and not the protocols required for such things as voice, pictures, or sound. This has been left out by Sharp and not Vodafone as everyone would think.

The alternative is of course Vodafone Live which costs money. I have a gx10 myself and wish I would have got a gd87, this has the above mentioned protocols installed and works fully.

Hope this answers your questions.
