SEUS is 10-60 MB in updating file size while FOTA is only 1.5-3 MB. It's of the same firmware update. It should be the same, right? Why doesn't SEUS have this FOTA small file size? Why is there a gap in terms of updating file size? Why doesn't SEUS work just like FOTA to save bandwidth, and avoid dead phones? Which method is safer to avoid dead phones? FOTA?

Uh SEUS is bigger because your acutally downloading and application that has to install and run on you computer! That application can detect over 20 handsets so that can contribute to the size as well as the supported languages! As well as security & branding checks! FOTA will be smaller because theres no need for a pc application! It wil run the fw from the phone. Also there will be no need for branding checks as FOTA is only availiable for unbranded handsets. Ever notice when running an update after gettin you phone connected properly it starts to download the necessary installation files!!!( These are the flashing files )

Hi! About SEUS, am I supposed to download a new version of the program from the SE website every time I want to check for updates for my phone, or does the program connect to www to search for a new version??

Sony Ericsson Update Service only needs to be downloaded once, it updates automatically. When you've connected your phone properly, SEUS automatically checks for an update to your phone, and I've noticed recently that it now tells you if your phone's software is up to date.

I think SEUS is the best choice for updating your phone software. It is made by SE manufacturer and it is for SE phones. Same factory, same products. It works perfect.

I would like to know which is better SEUS or FOTA ?

Is SEUS a better way, does it give a complete update than FOTA because of its bigger download size

All your replies appreciated .. THANKS

AFAIK
FOTA only patches needed parts when SEUS writes a whole new firmware
FOTA only updates files on the FS as needed, SEUS writes a whole new FS
