i did not need a driver for my irda adapter, it was plug and play , just put in to the usb port and there you go, in fact, i can hardly imagine getting any kind of trouble with irda, anyway the possible solution for you would be searching for a generic driver.. not manufacturer oriented (if you know what i mean) go to the add hardware wizzard and play around there, try finding a driver that is compatible with that type of transmitter you got... since many manufacturers are probably selling their adapter under their name, but based on that particular type of hardware, this would make the driver generic, so look for something like that. hope it helps...
another thing, you may go to the system's device manager setting and double click on the infrared there, after that go to the update driver and then search for the compatible drivers with that wizzard xp opens...

I just got my IR hook-up down, and this is how it works for me:
1. Install your IR device as documented by manufacturer. Unless you have some brand-name device which XP knows about, you DO need to install drivers.
2. ensure first that the XP's IrDA facilities work OK. You should see the Infrared Devices group in your Device Manager (press Windows key + Pause/Break key combination, then click on Device Manager on Hardware tab of the dialog sheet that will appear).
3. once it's done, your phone and your PC should be able to see each other and be able to send files back and forth when you enable the T68's Infrared port and aim it at your PC's IR device. Sending individual contacts, appointments, pictures, ring tones, and theme filess should work at this point.
4. The Outlook synchronization will not work, however, since XTNDConnectPC requires a COM port to work with. Download and install IrCOMM2000 from http://www.ircomm2k.de, it will expose your PC's IR port as a virtual COM port.
5. I think reinstalling XTNDConnectPC may be required, although maybe it's not. I used this download: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15634
This should it works for you. I went thru a lot of frustration with my setup, and I hope my small but fruitful experience will help somebody else. |
