Why the Z700 was scrapped... |

Having just become the proud owner of a GX-10 I can understand now why killed the Z700. The GX-10 is about the same size as a Z700 was going to be but has great Java games AND a much larger screen AND a built-in camera.
With the kind of lead time that have on handsets (i.e. measured in years, not months ) they must have know that the JPhones with GSM capability were more than a match for the Z700.
Question is though, why couldn't they bring some of the Japanese phones over here??

You'd be amazed how many teens I saw parting with £200 for a GX-10 on Friday...!
If you build it, they will come.

I just got a Panasonic GD 87 and its fappin awesome fantastic screen, and Java and all the toys (except Blutooth) and a zoom camera with semi decent resolution (0.7MP)
1MB memory as well built in and its smaller and lighter then the GX10 Sharp unit (which is also very nice!)
Keep my T68i and and my 7650 though

I'll give u the mags conclusion -
"Orange And T-Mobile Have already launched MMS, But when the other networks catch up, expect to see a much greater choice of handsets on the market. O2 has struck an exclusive deal with sharp to launch sharps first european phone, The GX-1. Althopugh they are new to the UK Market, Sharp ahs been making camera-phones in japan for several years. Crucially, the GX-1 is the first photo phone that looks and feels like a standard phone. The camera built in to the phone, apparently is much cheaoper than rivals, enabling sharp to target the SMS-mad Youth Market. We think it will sell for under £100 with a contract. The camera also has some innovative features. You can optimise photos with exposure levels and digital zoom and store up to 80 pictures. The GX-1 Boasts 16-chord Polyphonic Ringtones, Is WAP Compatible, and uses GPRS. Expect to see it in the shops By November." |
