help friends,
i can't seem to get XS++ (darwin) to detect my P1i. when i connect it the logs say:
15:17:45| XS++ v3.1 (Darwin) Ready !
15:17:45| Executed on Microsoft Windows XP
15:17:57| Executing SEMC Smartphone Operations!
15:17:57| Please hold boot key ('@' or 'C') and connect device...
15:18:43| Master Port detected: COM3

15:18:44| Init Master Failed!
i followed the steps on their help file. am i failing to do something else here??
do i need to uninstall SEUS?
EDIT: got it to work, was pressing the back key when it should've been the 7 key. i'm now on WG1 latest firmware!

Hi all!
Thanks to grizlore's advice I managed to find this thread on flashing my P1i's software.
can anyone tell me if it's advisable for me to do this? This is my situation: I have the HK firmware with Chinese pack installed and because of this all my fonts are not anti-aliased. Now I would honestly rather have my anti-aliased fonts so it's easier on the eyes, especially since I hardly type messages in Chinese anyway.
Should I be using XS++ to flash my firmware to a different (I guess a generic world version or something) firmware? or should I just grin and bear the non-anti-aliased fonts?
Any watchouts especially since I'm going from HK firmware to something else? If back up my phone using SE PC Suite, I should be pretty safe already right?
It's my first time to do this so I really wanna take all precautions, and I'm nowhere close to a technician.

@gbrooks, just one quick question: whats the difference between the two GW1 W960 profilesin XS++?

I got my P1 today from Plemix and as usual, it has HK or some Asian firmware inside and some of the files are also named in Asian text. How do I successfully change this to some other CDA? And then update?

I managed to do it finally. Now I have totally removed the HK firmware and running W1.
Updating with SEUS now...

guys,i want to ask a question:
i already have GW2 on my p990 (R6E28) and i want to roll back to R5A17 and i think i have to change my CDA to 8 instead 2.but how to do so?i couldn't do that with xs?

That's the same CDA as I've got - sim free phone from Carphone Warehouse.
Would also like to know if its worth changing it WG1?

There is only one  The other W960 file is Arabic and the other GW1 is for the W950.
