Nokia / SE PC Suite Clash. |

Hi all, whenever I'm trying to install .jar or .sis files to my girlfriends W800i, it always opens the Nokia Installer as it reads these files and thinks I'm trying to install to my phone. Didn't tell me that I had a choice when I installed the Nokia PC suite, and as I use my P910i a fair bit, I'd have known not to set them as Nokia specific files. So, my query really is, what can I do? I've tried reinstalling PC Suite for the SE (1.7.10) but no avail. Help please! |

I doubt you can install .sis files to W800i. However, the .jar files can be sent to it over IR Bluetooth.

I didn't think you could install Java files on a non-Symbian Sony Ericsson using the PC Suite.

Sorry, you're completely right of course, I mean .jar files.
Even so, clicking the .jar file opens nokia installer. And I can't bluetooth it either, say's it's protected.
There must be someway round this, it's ridiculous.
Why would they lock that function out of PC suite then?

.jar is Java What Bluetooth software are you using? There's no Sony Ericsson software available that would allow you to install the Java applications to your phone from your computer, so double-clicking is pretty useless. The only way I can think of getting it on the phone without using Bluetooth is to put the Java archives onto the Memory Stick, in the folder MSSEMC --> Media files --> other. |

I know .jar is java I was replying about not being able to install .sis files to a non symbian phone.
I've worked it out now, I've used the paste to memory card method you suggested, thanks for this. Suppose I should have messed around a bit more before complaining!
Oh and regarding bluetooth - I'd lent my dongle out, so I was file transferring it to my N80 and then trying to bluetooth it to the W800i.
Cheers for the help people. |
