T68i Charging Problem |

Hi All
Firstly, apologies if this seems like an irrating newbie post. I've looked through some of the forums, and used the search feature and haven't found anything relating to the same problem. But, of course, I may have missed the appropriate thread...
Anyway, my problem is with recharging the battery in my T68i. I've had the phone for about 2 weeks - when I received the phone I first charged the battery for 3-4 hours, as recommended in the instructions.
Now, whenever I plug in the phone in the evening it seems to charge quite irratically. If I plug the charger in while the phone is switched on (and, say, about 60% battery power left) sometimes the phone totally ignores the charger. Other times it will say "Optimized Charging" on the screen, and then the green LED comes on permanently and the battery level increments. But, this may only last for 3 minutes, when it will then stop charging and do nothing for 3 minutes. It will then repeat the cycle.
If I try charging when the phone is switched off the red LED will come on permanently for 1 minute, the screen will light up and say "Charging Only", then the phone will totally switch off. This process may repeat for 3 cycles.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Any advice much appreciated.
And if the advice is to return the phone to the store, does anyone know if they'll be able to replace the phone there and then? (it will be an Orange store in the UK). |

return the phone to the store, only they can say whether they'll have replacements on the spot...call ahead to report your problem, take down the name of who your speaking to and explain the fault.
it sounds like it could be a problem with the connection on the bottom of the handset or the charger but even so you shouldnt keep it...get it or the charger changed.

just return it, before the return policy expires, get a new one, you should have like a 30 day return policy so that way you can change it for any reason, so you wont have to prove anything to them. if that was happening to my phone (seems obvious - a hw problem ) i would exchange it first thing next day,....

Hi
Thanks for all the advice. As you suggested, I phoned Orange Customer Services and they said that as I purchased on the Internet I don't have Orange Care (which I don't) which means I have to go directly to Sony Ericsson and gave me a number for them. They are closed today. The Orange man told me that S.E. would give me an address local to me which I could go and exhange the phone at. I hope it is local! I ended up having to drive for about 1 hour to pick up the phone in the first place because the courier wouldn't deliver on a Saturday (or they would for a £30 - £40 charge) and I'm at work all week.
I just missed the 14 day no quibble exchange policy! |
