jep you're right, but still I think it looks goooooooooooood...however I am sure that the first units might have some SW bugs, but then again, I know that the phone can be conncted to the orange network and then the network will see whats already installed on the phone, and then it will recommend you some updates if there is some (including SW)...not like going to the SE service piont all the time...

man there is a huge discussion about the spv on the other manufacturers forum, go there and see.. and another thing you can watch a webcast fo the presentation for the phone here:
http://www.firsttimetogether.com
it is oven an hour long, telling you all about the spv,
P.S. i am becoming obsessed with it, like some others with the p800, the only problem now, is for me to get it in us and unlock from orange... and then the happy life... oh well i think i will be able to pull it off even before those p800 fans will see their brick released...

[MDS] - Do u think it could be unlocked.....and even if it is.....would services such as MSN still work? do u think just an internet conneciton is needed or Orange may have a "special" kind of MSN server....just a thought.

I would Love MSN on the move!

if u use MSN ass me as a contact - markrnicholls@o2.co.uk

upss sorry the below was ment to be written above !!! sorry

Anyway...I have sent Orange some questions about unlocking the phone and IF it can be unlocked, will it still be possible to download new SW versions to the phone EVEN though I change the service provider...
I could imagine that I will NOT be able to do so, as Orange might have their own "special server" for that purpose.

Anyway I will post Orange reply here when I get it. However please notice that the answer might only be "valid" for Denmark (as this is were I am loctaed), I do not know if the answer will be the same for other countries.

When you buy the phone in Denmark a six-month Orange line will be included... I think the sim lock can be romoved after those six months

definately you can unlock it, and what is most important there is no sprecial orange server for msn that i am aware of, the thing is it uses gprs settings to get online, so you could use your messenger in any set of circumstances as long as u can connect to the net.. another thing, is cause it is ms platform, it will not be like a sw for se, it will be customizible and upgradable, so if you have problems with the orange program, i guess you could completely flash it to the american version for instance, the sw that sendo uses, they are same phones, made by the same canary people. only size and looks differ. so that is the good thing about ms, you can do whatever with it, just like your computer... so another thing is that these phones come with a built in usb ports and that suggests a lot to me.. there has not been a phone yet that could not be unlocked (again in my knowledge), so i would not worry about it... u might not be able to use some of the orange specific apps if you not on orange network, but generic ms soft, sure...

if you watch that presentation.. there are some apps like orange specific, something called orange back up and stuff like that, those might become useless in us, however you can just delete them and install something else, for the fact that a whole bunch of java apps for any purpose will be couming out soon. you can even install a java program to use your phone as a remote, so i guess the sky is the limit...

if anything is coming to TM, it is not the SPV , it will most likely be sendo z100. which is practically the same but a little different in design and i think it has gprs class 10 connection, while spv is only 8, but for this type of phone it is essential, as for me, i am getting it because of the screen and the memory card and the interface, so gprs is not that important, i can't wait for sendo, will get spv, and unlock it.

Just talked with the service provider people (orange) today and they told me that it is possible (of course) to unlock the phone and you would still be able to use the orange server for upgrade and storage of phone info......
However later I was informed by email that I would NOT be able to use the orange server if I changed from orange service provider to another service provider...??!!!!!

I am not really sure what to believe, but I guess the last information was correct as the email was from a orange tech line, were as the first person was "just" a sales person from orange, and to be honest...I do not have much trust in sales persons....they f**k with people who does not know anything about phones...lucky for me this does not include me, as I work with elctronics my self, but I just HATE when a smart ass sales person tries to peep talk people to buy a phone....

SORRY if there is any sales persons in this forum...but that's my opinion.

there is no orange in the us anyway, so even if i could get the updates with an unlocked spv, i don't think i could have utilized that feature, or is it done over gprs, so it does not matter where you are? please advise..
