Is there a way to prioritize this everytime you want to access the net via email, rss feed, browser etc..

I would want it to be in this order:
1.) Wifi
2.) Gprs

and if connected to the PC it will connect via passthrough over the PC.

So it will now ask me to choose which connection I want to use before I connect, and if wifi is disable and I choose wifi, it will automatically turn on wifi and look for available wireless networks.

Is this possible?

Go to INTERNET ACCOUNTS (Tools -> Control Panel -> Connections -> Internet Accounts)

You see two tabs ACCOUNTS and GROUPS.

You define your GPRS/WiFi/Bluetooth connection in the ACCOUNTS page. Each connection is a separate Connection Account. Test each one and make sure they work.

Then go to GROUPS page and create a new GROUP ACCOUNT (let's call MY CONNECTIONS). Then you ADD NEW ACCOUNT to the group.

You can then choose the PRIORITY of each Connection Account by tapping on it. In your case it'll be

WiFi
GPRS

Then make the MY CONNECTIONS group account as the Preferred Group.

Now when your application looks for internet connection, the phone will try the connection in the order of your list ... in your case, it would try to hook on to WiFi first ... if it doesn't find the WiFi then it automatically try GPRS.

I have mine setup to connect to

Bluetooth PAN (thru Shared Internet Connection on my laptop)
Home WiFi
GPRS

Works like magic.

If you have an open wifi nearby but the network maby doesn't use DHCP or it's dns isn't correctly configured you might get this problem. The phone connects to the network by the network cant connect to internet.

edit: And no, you can't make the phone activate wifi automaticly. Wifi has to be on standby to be able to see if there is a wifi-spot to connect to.

yeh i think tats exactly what happens! but then whats the solution for this problem? is there anyway to fix this? what abt magic profiles pro? maybe the profiles could change automatically with location and with that interent account priorities aswell. Coz it wud be a pain to change the priority order for internet accounts as you goto different wifi spots.........

I'm starting to think that this may be a programming blooper on the part of SE's finest. It does continue to connect to the first priority on the list and doesn't appear to seek down the list. I would prefer to choose which item in my group that it connects to instead of using this priority list. Some programs don't provide you a choice to use anything other then GPRS. Not sure how to remedy this.

I am not really understanding the problem. Why does the phone connect to a wireless network when you didnt tell it to? Does this network just happen to have the same wireless name as your home network? If so why not switch the home network name?
