I read somewhere that the latest version of the phone is 8A, and I only have 4A. Is there a difference? What about this 8 way joystick movement? How would I get a London dealer to give me a new phone as a replacement? I read that some guy asked for his SW to be flashed, and a week later they gave him a new phone with new SW. |

they still have the same functionality... just improved performace... you can't be sure you will get a phone with the latest hw if you get it swapped... |

"mechanical" parts are improved to last longer, like joystick, keydome foil (the foil between the keypad and the systemboard), improvements on RF circuits etc etc... |

on the back of the phone on the label underneath the battery you'll find the hw version... R2A is the first hw version for T68i... |

i have seen many of the t68i and never seen anything higher than the r2a, how do you get the one that says 8a? i bought it very recently and since i am in us the market is flooded with the ones that are made in malaysia, so my determiation was to get the one that was made in sweeden, i had hard time finding it, but i did find it and this is my second t68i , the first one was exactly the same and i never had any problem with it, so now i got another sweedish one and i have r2e build on it, i am not thinking about the upgrade cause it is all done here under the counter, next time i am in europe i will upgrade it, but what do i do about those hw things, with my r2a does it mean my joystic is going to break soon or anything elsw will fail, is r2a really bad, or what. please help, cytech..

a T68i with hw R2A can't be compared with a T68m with hw R2A...
the r2A in T68i is quite good... so there is actual no need for you to hunt for phones with newer hardware...

THANX Cytech, great info, one last question: does this hw stuff apply only to the t68m, or is there the t68i with the r8a? if it is only for the m phones, than it does not matter, if it is concerning the t68i's aswell, i am reliefed by your response, so i just want to know, what applys to the i series and what is the latest there...

I can find two different RXA. One under "Made in China" (R7A) and one rotated 90 degrees to the left of "T68i" just before "Made in China". (R4A). Which one is it.. |

you see, this is what i mean, even though it is r7a, and it is almost the last version availible, it says made in china, and thus i would not care at all for the hw version, it is essential that my phone says made in sweden and that is the thing i consider a quality determinant (or a signal) i would trust more the phone that is european made, then the phone with the latest hw but manufactured in china... anyway this is just my opinion, so please don't start comming at me and flaming... i mean this is whats important to me as a consumer, i will never buy a phone that says made in china or malasya or korea or anything like that, unless of course there is only place they are made and it happened to be china... if there is an option european vs asian... i'll get the european...
P.S. Cytech, thank you so much for all the filled gaps in my knowlege...

Hi, this is my first post even though I have been reading on this forum for 6 months, anyway I am using a t68m with hardware verison R4C, and R2B firmware. So my point is R4A is not the latest hardware verison for t68m.
