10 reasons why I won't buy the P800 |

1. It's to big to fit in my trousers pocket
2. You need two hands to operate most functions instead of one
3. The numerical keypad (plastic pins hit the touchscreen) doesn't work. Believe me, I've tried it.
4. The web browser doesn't support frames and javascript
5. There will be hardly any third party software, because development tools are too expensive for most developers
6. Symbian OS 7 is supported by no other phone on the market
7. The camera lens is not covered, so it will collect dust and dirt
8. The picture quality is awfull, just have a look at the samples
9. It doen't integrate easily with Microsoft based corporate networks.
10. Because of all the delays, it's too little, too late, too late, too late...

I agree with most of it... especially for the physical part about the camera being not covered and a plastic keypad pins and bulkiness, all those things really turn me off the purchase of that phone, now i am craving for the spv or the z100, anything stinger based, because they come with the built in usb ports, 65k tft screens all the stuff like polyphony and the rest of the goodies, including ms messenger and internet explorer version 3, which is old but still better anything ericsson and that ridicoulus opera browser can offer, so any stinger based phone gets my vote 100% and i don't like the p800, and i say that not because i am pissed with se, but i never wanted the phone that much, just wanted to have the most advanced cell on the market, but now p800 is no longer that, and with the release of the spv on the 11th of nov, i am going to get one, even though it will be locked to orange, i still want it despite the fact i won't be able to use it for a while (until the hack comes around) but now i am happy with my t68i and will keep using it, any of those pda or smartphones are to big for me to carry around anyway... just want to have one. but p800 is not good for me..

Who would want that in a mobile phone? Btw, the browser has support for java applets.

The tools are about the same price (or cheaper) as Microsoft-development tools. If you use java it is free.

Well. No other phone uses symbian os 7, so there wouldn't be much point in "supporting" it. P800 seems to be the first to use version 7. That is the whole point with being first.

I would guess there is a way to cover it.

We'll see about that.

Nothing in the world does unless Microsoft makes it (that's they way the designed it). The strength with symbian is its support for OPEN STANDARDS.
Considering the citrix client, lotus mobile notes, and its web-browser it is probably the best integrated phone in the world.
And I don't see how anyone would want a usb-port rather than bluetooth?

First off I agree 100% with MDS and yes MS just made a BT adapter so you can use it with the PVC. I too will be getting one when it hits the US. Oh and its slimmer than the P800 and lighter, downside the battery kinda sucks but oh well. For 1/3 the price of a P800 it blows it away.

I agree with MDS and jb. I like the Z100 and the P800. I like the Z100 because of the slim size, and I like the P800 because of its large display. I think both these phones are going to be great once released. |

exactly, so the camp will spit, people like me will go for the spv or z100, and other half (probably majority ) will get the p800
However, the difference is, we (the spv people) will get our phones sooner, cause it will be released on the 11th of november... good luck...

one reason why I won't choose P800=SPV - I don't think P800 will even be released

just read on a mobile-review site that p800 is definately delayed until feb03, may be not true, but so far it looks very likely to be true...

ok this is all well and good but the spv will become obsolete very quickly
microsoft have a habit of replacing os's very quickly after the first versions
so sp2002 will very quicly become sp2003 |
