Backup Manager problem |

Hi Everyone,
Firts of all a big thank you to all of you sharing your experiences with the P990 bugs and suggestions for workarounds. Apparently SE don't do too well informing us about latest releases, known issues etc.
So far I haven't seen a single topic mentioning the Backup Manager in the PC Suite application. I have had lots of problems with interupted backups shortly after the reboot of the phone. I get a message saying something like "The device is not responding", and the backup stops. I use PC Suite 1.1.9. Today I tried to install PC Suite to another PC. After installation I had one successful backup, but when I tried a second time I had the same problem again.
Has anyone seen the same problem? |

I had the same problem with my M600i.
I found a workaround on the developer forum at sonyericsson. At least it worked for me:
Uncheck the "unified inbox" (Back Up manager - advanced mode).

Thanks, it helped!!!
However, I guess this means that mi Unified inbox is now not backed up, so the problem is not completely solved.
Did you figure out what kind of files caused this error?

That is correct - no backup of mails and messages. I don't keep SMS for more than a week or so, and emails are on my computer. So I can live with it for a while.
I didn't find the message/mail which caused the problem. |

Hi,
I've just had this problem of being unable to restore my Unified inbox. I'd previously backed up the phone with PC suite 1.2.14, then done a flash upgrade with SEUS. I'd subsequently upgraded to 1.2.15, and now I've been completely unable to restore my Inbox with the previous backup. Not really a problem, but a bit annoying (obviosly not annoying enought to make me want to uninstall, install the older version are restore etc......)
Cheers

If you look in the report after the backup is aborted you might find a line like this:
u8rnqdygpc9rmqsd1fwmamr9br8 -- Device not responding.
I searched my inbox for "u8rnqdygpc9rmqsd1fwm" and found it in two messages. It was auto configuration SMS's I sent to my phone from Sony Ericssons web site, to configure MMS and Internet.
But even after deleting them and restarting the phone, the backup would still not work. So I can't really say that it was them causing my problem, but that combination of letters and numbers couldn't be very common.

This morning I tried again with Unified mailbox checked.
Before that I have deleted MMS (recieved via Bluetooth) with a 452 kb jpg. And I have made an normal syncronisation of email, calender etc.
No errors this time..... |
