Should I get a N73? (K800i) |

Hi everbody,
I currently own a W800i and I´m happy with it however my contract ends in a couple of months and i´m thinking about what mobile i´m gonna get. I thought about the things i´d like to upgrade on my W800i and thought about a larger and better screen, better camera, better video resolution (qcif is ancient), improved software (being able of playing different kind of apps and files and etc), good sound quality, 3.5mm adaptor and good software for camera and media player, not to mention good design and portability. N73 and K800i came to my mind because of their specs and the quality/price ratio. However a few doubts started to pop up after reading a couple of things and I would appreciate some help.
- How´s the quality sound on K800i? Is it really worse than w800i? Thats a big issue because I use w800 for music almost every day and the idea of spending more money to downgrade is unacceptable.
- Is it easy to find free apps for N73?
I mean like office, divx player, 3d games and etc?
Do they play well?
I read that the adobe pdf reader and quick office can only display very simple and small files and that its slow.
- The browser on N73 is good but how much more is it going to cost? Whats the average size of websites viewed on it?
- In terms of size how portable is N73? And how does it compare to W800 and K800?
- How fast is N73 software and overall performance running multiple apps?
- How does N73´s Flash compare to K800´s xenon flash?
- How their earphones compare to each other?
- How their sound quality compare to each other?
- Is it easy to transfer files and apps to N73?
- Which one would u get?
I could go to a store and compare them live however they are only available online on my country now and some questions would not be answered by doing that.
Thx for the help,
SloopJohnB

n73 neccessarily doesnt have the better camera..its all up to the consumer..some ppl like n73's camera better and some prefer k800's..even Eldar says dat at http://www.mobile-review.com ..k800 is not a walkman phone so it doesnt have sound quality as good as w800..and of course no mega bass..if u want a walkman ..wait for the w850... wont provide u wid good camera and good mp3 player in one...they have divided their products into cyber-shot for cameras and walkman for mp3 player ones..i dont kno how good the mp3 player in n73 is.
so id say wait for the w850 if u can live widout the camera..if u cant then go for k800 but of course u would have to sacrifice v.good sound and settle for good sound..
jus my opinion..
btw..better video recordin u can only get in n73 cuz k800 styll uses qcif..and of course better app handling is also only avaiable in n73 cuz obviously its a symbian and a smartphone.

So if eldar says that nokia 3100 is the best, then u go for it? No offence, but a decision should be based on personal taste and needs. For me n73 is over k8, cos its a symbian.

obviously its down to personal opinion, but i prefer the N73.
its got a really good camera/video camera.
nice large,high res screen.
cool 3D ringtones.
and after using both the k800 and the n73 , the n73 was an easy winner.

@SloopJohnB in my oppinion if you want connectivity and mobility and good pictures in daylight then go for N73.If you want to take pictures at night or in places where is low light then go for K800i(meaniing that you take about 20 pics a day,in lowlight)
-K800i's a audio is weaker than the one on W800,plus if you are a megabass fan then you will miss it a lot (i had a w800 too,but i gave it for an n93)
-N73 can display "simple" adobe pdf and office but not like K800,it CAN display.K800 supports only java platform and there aren't many usefull apps like office and pdf.On the other hand for the n73 although it's symbian is quite new, there are more new apps so when i looked over the internet to see how many apps were available (this was in june or so ) i could find about 10 apps, now there are over 30-40 apps for n73.You must not forget that N73 supports java apps (that can be installed on k800) plus symbian apps so there it wins.Oh and n73 i think it's not quite slow because on my n93 i can read pretty complex documents (for example a car brochure).
-The browser is excellent, the best you can find in a mobile phone but unfortunately the data transfer is large.Google for example on opera mini takes less than 5kb to load,on the Nokia Browser it take between 20 and 40 kb to load. The primary page of esato takes 100-110 to load.So this is up to you,for me it doesn't matter i pay for quality. As i said in the previous paragraph if you don't like the nokia browser you can put opera mini on n73 but on k800 opera mini is the best for it while n73 has two possibilities.
-in the size and weight chapter i can only tell you for sure that both phones are bigger and heavier than w800.now the following i will tell you based on specifications available on the internet because i didn't get the chance to hold a n73 in my hand.So n73 is slighlty larger than k800,5 mm longer,4 mm wider but 3mm thinner, also n73 is 1 gr heavier than k800.
-N73 has very good multitasking, enabling you to minimise almost any of the functions the phone has,you can even minimse a call lol.K800 has some sort of multitasking but it can't do it as easy and efficient like n73
-at this chapter K800 wins hands down,it's flash is excellent in low light and at night (2-3 meters or so).n73 is effient only a 1 m.So if you work underground then get k800 lol
-both earphones suck, you will probably buy new ones,i got hpm-70 (the ones on w800) for my n93,suddently the sound got better.
-N73 has stereo speaker and the sound is better than on K800 at least through speakers. As for sound through headphones,i don't know,my N93 sounds better than a k800,tested it myself,oh and it's louder.
-nokia pc suite is quite good, the phone is easier to set up than it is with k800,that's for sure.
-if i was to get a new phone without having any phone at the moment i would go for n73 because the only main drawback is the fact that it's camera sucks in low light,at every other category it beats k800 IMO!!!
cheers

@SloopJohnB here we go again,so:
-N93 is bigger and heavier than N73
-n93 is probably faster since i think is has a faster processor
-different form shape
-n93 has VGA recording with 30 FPS
-n93 has Wlan b/g and HSCSD (probably you will never use it)
-n93 doesn't have stereo sound speakers
-both have same OS so there isn't any difference
-you can use n93 to watch movies confortably by placing it on the table in laptop like position
-price wise i don't know fur sure but i think N73 goes up to 500 euros (sim free) and n93 goes up to 750 euros (mine was 720euros)
cheers
