3 quirks with my phone, that I need to determine are either normal or defects:

  1. Audio on headset sometimes fades in and out, even with the headset on the same side of my body as the phone (which is either in my pocket or on my belt). I realize this could easily be a problem on the other end of the call. However, I had this same headset (Jabra JX10) with my Moto RAZR V3i and never experienced this.

  2. Occasional, soft crackle and "pop" between (but not during) songs in the Walkman app and using the included wired headset. This is totally random - sometimes it's heard before the first song, sometimes it isn't heard until between the 50th and 51st. I tried both the included earbuds and some 3rd-party ones, and the condition is the same.

  3. When holding down the camera button (to start the camera app), the upper half of the button becomes backlit Shouldn't this be the whole button, or none of it?

I hope these are normal. I do not want to deal with warranty service ever again

Well i cant say ive had these problems with my w810i, it works well with the earphones it came with...i cant obviously talk about other headsets but mine work fine and havent had this fading effect that your mentioning.

The camera button being lit when you press it??, thats normal...same thing happens with my p990i as well, it lights up and flashes a bit before going off.

Let me clarify a bit - only the top half ("top" when holding the phone vertically) of the button lights as you described...

@QVGA - Hmmm, I guess the occasional popping is normal, then. Thanks for the tip.

And I'm willing to write off the call audio flucutations as just random interference, as there's nothing else to indicate a problem of any kind.

I get pops and crackles during playback sometimes as well. I just assume it's normal in all MP3 players. However my W810 is the only one I've ever owned.

The backlit camera button is the same on mine and I believe it shows up as half lit beceause of the LED placement.

And I never use a headset so I'm clueless there.

Sounds like my phone is fine, then.

Phew! I'm 0 for 2 with successful warranty repairs. Damn glad I don't have to see if the third time's the charm

Thank you all for your help!

Yes I get the "popping" noises in between songs and sometimes when I turned the player on or off. My K750/W800 used to do this as well.

My camera button does light up, but not sure if it the whole of the button.
