ok im getting annoyed by my friend about this.. lets cut this short. my friend was complaning that the files that i bluetooth to them (mostly from the Mp3 files..) are infected with virus .. usually im using LimeWire for all the songs in my phone.. but i dont see there's a virus detected on the song i've downloaded so far.. i do use an AVG as a protection though.. any idea about it? perhaps i do need a better virus protection? hope there's a lead on this.. thanks in advance

Yeah . . . just what are the signs that your fone was infected with the virus I'm kinda new to this. Also, is it TRUE what many are saying that Nokia brand fones can easily be infected with the virus (in general) compared with ones [addsig]

What phone does your friend have? And @jojo- its not that phones are less susceptible to viruses... Its simply that most "phone" virii are coded for series 60 devices..

Next time check whether the infected device is a series 60 device! Most probably it will be. Series 40 phones from nokia are as safe (from viruses) as any phone.

Series 60 includes all symbian based smartphones... The likes of 7650, ngage, 6600 to the latest N-series are all based on the symbian os. These phones have an operating system along with their firmware. Series 40 includes 6230, 6270 and the likes...these phones use generic nokia user interface. _________________ Esato Orkut Community!|Esato Awards 2006!

@blu - Perhaps mate . . . anything that can be transferred . . . even plain - SMS can contain viruses . . . Maybe it's not the song that's infected . . . maybe it's the fone of - Quick [addsig]

I don't see anyway an mp3 file can be infected.. Unless you download it in a zipped format and the archive contains an unwanted guest...

some mp3s on limewire are not mp3 files at all, but executables with the extension .mp3 and won't run at all. You'd have to change the extension to .exe or .com for the virus to execute.

Yup true. But any antivirus should be easily able to identify such files.. And even if the extention is not *mp3, the program might be able to execute.
