IMO, BoxWave's ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protectors are the best available for portable electronics. I've used them successfully with past phones, as well as my iPod and PDA; I've yet to find anything else that cuts down on glare nearly as well. Not to metion, they are clear, durable (and also thin), easy to apply, and reusable. And their service is excellent.

Unfortunately, they have yet to develop a protector for the W810i I submitted a new product request, and received the following response:

Quote:
We are currently developing our products for new models, so we appreciate your suggestion since we develop our products based on the number of requests we receive for a particular model.

I thus ask the Esato community to please stuff the BoxWave Inbox with requests for the W810i, via the following page:

http://dyn.boxwave.com/community/request/request_model.cfm

Be sure to check the "ClearTouch" boxes in the "Products" checklist, and in the "Which Device" window, paste the following link to the W810i page on the site:

http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp1_loader&php=PHP1_10376&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10376

Thanks for your help

---

On a side note, I've tried the following with the W810i:

http://www.shieldzone.com/
http://www.clarivue.com/

The ShieldZone is both expensive and ridiculous. You have to use a spray-on liquid to apply their overly-thick product And even after it's dried, the display appears slightly distorted through it.

The Clarivue is much better - no liquids, clear view - but it most definitely is not anti-glare The reflectivity is worse than the bare display.

Dude, you really need to get a grip on life. By the BoxWave like I did, cut to fit my K800i like I did for my w810i and w800i. All without the need to annoy BoxWave. Just order them and cut them down to fit, and relax.

They won't be annoyed by their own web forms and policies.

I will explain. I promise to go slowly.

I tend to call companies that I intend to purchase products from. The web is wonderful but talking to a person one on one is much better.

I contacted BoxWave and asked them about their product. They intend to make additional sizes however, sizes change faster than they can make products thus the missing size that you or I may require. Their solution: buy the closest size, cut them to fit and in time they will have the "proper" size. Problem solved. Your "petition" will not get you what you want any faster than me ordering the size that is the closest to the desired size and then cutting them. I have mine now and you can sit and wait for them to create what you want.

That should just about sum it up. Hope I was clear enough for you, but by all means, please do get that petition going and fill up those mail boxes. Pardon me now, I need to get out my Exacto knife so that I can cut my new BoxWave Screen Protectors.

I'm still wondering what I did to earn one insult after another. I wasn't the one who pissed in your Cheerios this morning, I swear.

It's not unreasonable to follow a company's procedures in having a new product made, is it? Oh, I see, it's my turn to go slow.

  1. BoxWave does not yet have a W810i screen protector
  2. their web site thus directed me to a new product request form
  3. I filled out said form
  4. the e-mail response to the form indicated that new product development hinged upon the number of requests for that product
  5. I therefore asked the W810i users here to submit their own requests

End of story. Insult-free and everything.

Virtual handshake offered.

Now. I asked them for a w800i screen a long time ago and still no screen. I even sent them in the dimensions of the screen and still no protector. This is why I know they will not bother with producing a protector for the w800i, and such. Look at their old inventory. You will see that they are still listing the k700i, so don't get your hopes up.

I have an extra X-acto knife if you want it.

'Tis disturbing - I won't hold my breath. Is it the K700i protector you used? How much trimming did it need?

Not much. For the k800i i trimmed off the corners and made them round. I also trimmed a bit of the side and they fit pretty good. Not as good as a custom model but it works and it protects the screen. The clarity is quite good though. Everyone that looks at the phone notices how bright the screen is, and then I point out BoxWave.

BTW, I wonder about the lead time point you raised - because they had RAZR V3i screen protectors (2-piece setes for both displays) months ago, even though that phone still isn't officially for sale in the US

I guess, like Cingular, BoxWave worships Moto and treats like a bastard stepchild
