W550 doesnt have extendable memory which makes it almost unworthy of having a walkman brand. |

Yes I agree the W550 is a really good phone. Funky design, nice clear screen and stereo external speaker. But not enough memory.

I like the W550i, depends on how much you're going to use it as an music player, if you just want a few tracks with you then it's perfect, if you want more of a music player then go for the W700. The camera on it is pretty good, though I found it a bit grainy in low/artificial light, and next to useless in very low light conditions! If you want a decent camera phone in that price range go for a K750i.
The W550i is an excellent all-round phone, few nice touches too like the RDS FM radio and over the air firmware updates, something a bit different too!
Depends on what you're going to use the phone for as to whether it's worth you getting it, each person's requirements are different.

well one of my friends is confused..he wants Walkman phone..he don't care much about tha camera..1.3mp are enough for him..256MB shared memory is enough..he wants to know if there is a difference between the sound quality..this is important for him..also he wants to know which of the phones is stronger..I mean if he drop it which of them won't break
he was wondering is the w550's opening mechanism good..is it strong enough for 3-4 years often using |

The W550i's mechanism should stand the test of time well, it's a similar, well, same as the S700i's swivel mechanism, and they're pretty tough. I've got a battered, rather sorry looking S700i with half the trim missing, no microphone, and generally in a sorry state. However, the swivel mechanism still works perfectly, despite being missing half it's screws! Uses a much better method than the Samsung sliders, which have a tendency to break/dislodge screen ribbons leading to white screens or no screen display. The W550i should last well.
Have you also considered the W700i? It has expandable memory, and a fixed focus 2mp camera. Not sure on the price but shouldn't be much more than the W550i.

i think that the W550i is a hard working phone because i have dropped mine plenty of times and still works great.
i have heard from people that the slider mechanism has snapped on some peoples phones.
but i am planning on geting a w850i for the space, better camera, new features and of course the new walkman player

w550 is ok for ppl who dont need a lot of space, but we all know that expansible memory is vital these days. that's why i dont own one. W550 is limited, k750 and expansibles phones are almost unlimited.
