transferring files to memory stick |

I have a K750i with a 1 gb stick. Like a lot of other people on this forum I'm getting seriously frustrated transering music to the stick using Disc2Phone. I've often read in the forum that it's possible (and a lot quicker) to tranfer files using a memory stick reader/writer. But how does that work? I thought the whole idea of D2P is that it converts music files on the PC into mp3s so that the phone can play them. I doubt the card reader will perform the same funcion... or am I missing something? Thanks for any advice! |

You are right that D2P is supposed to convert the tracks, but the idea behind a card reader is to transfer tracks that are in the mp3 format. The card reader is also actually faster. If you want it to convert tracks as you transfer, set up Windows Media Player with the reader and the MS and sync the tracks you want with the MS from WMP. This way you still get the conversion but also faster speed.

I have been using a card reader for 6 month now and I am very happy with it. Is is fast and easy. Plus I use it as backup.

@residing - Yeah, the good thing with the memory-card-reader is that . . . you can 'arrange' your files in the folder in just one sitting . . . unlike if you are to transfer it via Bluetooth or IR . . . been using it for 1.5 years now.

Convert? Why does the thing have to convert media? All my videos and music is already a readable format, that is why i put it on. I then copy it to my Memory Stick Pro Duo High Speed, in the appropriate folder using my memory card reader....It is fast...If I copy about 2GB of files, it would take round about 20-25 minutes, where as with my phone memory, or using the phones cable it takes about 20-25 minutes to copy 300-400 mb...Definately much faster...
I got my Memory Card Reader(Can read a lot of types of cards) for around R100, which is about $14, or 7.5 Pounds...not that much...Could probably get it even cheaper.

Does the memory card reader require some sort of drivers? Or is it plug and play? |

i thought that transfering with the cable was faster than a cardreader.

I think it will depend on you OS... if you`re using the old systems, you should install the drivers...
for XP, it`s plug and play...
take it from me... card readers are better... |
