Hello to all w810i users, I'm planning to do a iPetition online, for the lacks of this telephone, and the lacks are for the basic phone using, so I'm enumerating some of the annoyancies to share and discuss with you so we can get in a week a list of all the things to improve for basic phone usage.
Please do not post bugs, only basic phone usage problems.
My Firmware: R4DB005
If anyone knows the e-mail of sonyericsson devolpment team and support I'll we gald to receive it, and if anyone like to send me e-mails throught private message so I will have a list to copy for the e-mail to Ericsson.
AS MUCH AS WE CAN BE TO SEND E-MAILS TO ERICSSON BETTER WILL BE OUR RESPONSE FROM THEM.
- The vibrate alert do not last till the ringtone finish, it's vibra for a little. Generally when the outside sound is louder, I never hear the sms neither this short vibra.
Solution: put the option to vibrate only once or till the ringtone finish.
- When a new sms is arrived and the phone is in Standby the screens remains black.
Solution: - Put the screen black with and info of new message.
- A settable reminder sound that remains sounding till I
read the message.
- The only possibility to save a message in the phone memory is to save in Template.
Solution: Change the option of the Save folder, memory or memory
stick in this way we take advantage of the memory stick.
- Java permissions in read or write user data have only two options: No or Always ask.
Solution: Put option Never Ask.
- Keyboard lock time and Standby time
Solution: Put and option set the keyboard lock time and the standby
for the telephone to go standby
- Profiles has no possibility to setup a ringtone:
Solution: Put an option to setup a ringtone.
- SEUS depending of the country, it doesn't update to the last firmware.
Solution: This issue have to be resolved in one way from Ericsson.

What are you trying to do? This is a joke. Does SE give a damn because 100 out of a million people have something against them? Their phone sells, thats their goal. If these problems interfere in their sales, only then they'll do something about it. Not all phones are perfect, nokias are knows for their buggy software, just be glad SE isnt like Nokia. |

I forgot one more thing.
W810 is going to get old once W850 comes, which is less than a month away. So I seriously doubt SE is going to do anything now. |

Well, you can have my vote I think that you're better off trying to do something, then doing nothing at all. Instead of living with it, you're showing a bit of initiative by setting up a petition like this.

@QVGA
Also, just because the W850 is coming out in month or so, doesn't mean that SE will just ignore pending firmware improvements to the W810, or any phone for that matter. The K750/W800's firmware was still being refined, even till the middle of this year, even after the release of the W900 etc.
Also, it's called 'editing' your previous post. It's better than just double posting.

None of the "issues" you listed hinder useability of the phone. For the most part, these issues are global across all SE phones, so the chance that SE will do anything about them is slim to none.
Knock your self out though. |

unless the W810 software is not totally different than the K610 software I can help you on this: If I have the "Standby clock" enabled I get a message icon displayed on the right side of the clock, when a new message arrived.
It was the same in the K700 and the K750 so I'm pretty sure it works the same with the W810.

@rockygali
you are correct - the smaller icon on the right shows up when email comes in. SMS is larger and on the top of the clock. |

The W810i have activated the clock in standby by default, and pressing the Volume /Walkman/Play buttons you see the clock with a big envelop over the time. This is ok, but if you are in a rumorous place, you have to poll the cellular because the vibra is to short to "feel" it, for example in my old Nokia 7210, if I put a midi tone, there is a vibra channel, so you can last the vibra all the time there is the ringtone ringing, in this way you can feel the vibra in any rumorous place. |

I can see the clock even without pressing any key. Ok - it is not as good to read, but absolutely no problem.
For the vibra: I'm glad it lasts not that long when an SMS arrives - so I can distinguish if it is an SMS or a phone-call. And for me the vibra is strong enough anyway, but the W810 might be different.
Most of your other points are reasonable, but no "annoyances". For me it's just some nice to haves. |
