My experiments with the latest Nero AAC encoder at rock-bottom bit rates (64kb or less), show HE-AAC sounding much better (when played back on the PC) than "vanilla" LC-AAC.
Yes, I know audiophiles will throw their hands into the air, but I'm interested in packing lots of music onto my phone to listen to in very non-ideal environments!
HOWEVER, playing back the same low-bitrate HE-AAC files on the W810i sounds much poorer than when the same files are played in the PC.
The quality is comparible with a player on the PC that doesn't support HE-AAC. This suggests to me that the W810i is playing back the underlying AAC content but without decoding the extra HE-AAC information.
Can anyone definitively confirm whether the W810i is supposed to fully decode HE-AAC ?
Excuse me if this has been discussed elsewhere but I have read contradictory reports.
Thanks,
