Porting my mobile number from o2 - o2 |

Hi all,
I've been an o2 pay as you go customer for quite a few years and have had the same number ever since.
A few days ago i took out a contract with o2 (via onestopphoneshop) and have been given a new number. The phone arrived the next day, along with the papers etc which told me my new mobile number. The sim card wasnt in the package though so they are going to send me out a new one.
So currently I am still using my pay and go sim card.
Anyway, I called up o2 and asked about porting my o2 pay and go number to my new contract. They gave me a PAC code and told me to call onestopphoneshop and ask them.
Onestopphoneshop told me o2 don't allow porting from o2 to o2.
If that's true then why did they give me the PAC code in the first place?
Anyway, what i was wondering, is if anyone else had this problem, and whether they found a way around it, or an excuse to make o2 port my number?
I really want to keep my old number and don't want to send mass text messages round with my contract number.
thanks |

It's certainly possibe with O2 Ireland although I've heard stories about UK porting before. I can't believe it takes your networks up to 7 days to port numbers..... If it takes 2 hours here, thats slow! And that's not just from Prepay to Contract but from one network to another.
The car in front is absolutely unique apart from the one behind it which is exactly the same. Murray Walker |

O2 have no problem porting from Pay[and]Go to PayGo account, they have to port 2G numbers to 3G sims(i.e: for K800 PayGo), and have no problem doing this.....
...sorry can't give any timescales for this tho'.... |

made many phone calls to the phone companies and they all say that once my contract accont has been created, they can port my number from o2 to o2.
for them to port my number, i should have stated it wanted to keep my number when i started the contract as that is the only way to port the number.
so decided to cancel the contract under my 7 days guarantee.
then i will restart a contract in a few days and get my number ported. |
