Problem with text color changing in my theme on my K800i |

Hi!
I'm making a theme in rather dark colors. Because of this, I want my text in light colors. Makes sense. But when I use the theme in my K800, the text color gets black at certain locations.
For example, the themes-menu ("Teman" in my swedish phone). The caption "Teman" is white as it should be right when I change to the theme:

But when I go back one step, and then into the themes-menu again, the text is black:

It's not only ugly with black text against an almost black background, it's very hard to read. Heres a picture of my video folder:

Heres a screenshot of SE Themes Creator. Everything looks right in here:

I got no problems with tabs, they all have white text like they should have.
I've tried several other themes, but they don't seem to suffer from this. Have anyone else run into this problem? Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug in the phone, known or unknown?
Edit: Seems like the [img]-tag doesn't work.

Clearly, there are bugs in the themes handling. Some objects seem not to be possible to specify by the theme, but are handled more or less hard-coded or by some kind of automation in the phone. I have noticed another similar problem: I created a theme where all selection highlights consist of a white-edged transparent rectangle with rounded corners, like in this picture (middle object selected):
But one menu, the one when I'm prompted to move to phone memory or memory stick, the highlight does not appear:
In this case, the only help I get to see which item is selected is, that the text color changes from white to orange, according to the highlight settings in my theme.

Use the "Attach picture" facility in Esato's message composition dialog instead, as I just did. |

In your example it's not a bug, it's just a lack of a big highlight image for popup windows. You can choose a solid color for the highlight background, but not an image.

Nope, there's no image missing, I have all highlight images installed, below is how the popup highlight looks like. (Sorry about the poor focus)

I didn't mean that you had forgotten an image, I meant that the SE Theme Creator doesn't have a setting for a big highlight image in popups. When you get to choose where to save a file, the highlight spans two rows, but the popup highlight only spans one row, so the phone is forced to use the highlight color instead of an image.
Another thing I don't like is that there's no softkey or statusbar other than in standby. If you want them, you have to integrate them into the desktop picture.
Back to topic, does anyone have any idea why my text gets black at some menus? |

It seems like a bug to me, that the text color changes. The missing double-line highlight image is more a design flaw in the theme format.
According to the documentation, there are several colours in the theme that are automatically set, computed by the phone using surrounding colors as input, see DG_Themes_Rxx.pdf that comes with the sonyericsson themes creator, appendix 9, themes version 4.5:
Quote:
| In themes version 4.5, a number of colours are automatically rendered using alpha blending, either as a
percentage of the colour setting or as a percentage of black or white. |
|
It might be that themes delivered by sonyericsson has taken this behaviour into account so that the difference between the Title at different times is not that big and noticeable as when your title turns from white to black. |

I don't think it's because some colors are computed automatically. "Teman" for example is white at first, but gets black when I go back to that menu |

There is a solution to this.
Just use different colours for "Title Text Colour" and "Text Colour"
When the Text and Title Text both have the same colour, you will face ths problem.

Is it a bug or a feature? |

Its not a feature, its a bug.
We will have to wait for a software upgarde. But i doubt it will get rectified. They would not even know about this.

Is this bug present in previous SE handsets? |

As far as k750i / w800i / w810i / w550i / w900i are concerned, no they are not present.

The more you are all exposed yourself into theme making or theme creating, the more sensitive you are... |
