stereo handsfree headset |

My k800i will recognise that the standard headset is connected, but if someone calls it does not let me use the button on the headset to answer the phone, nor hang up. Seems to be a little tempermental, with some crazy buzzing noises also at times. I've checked it's connected properly, but cannot for the life of me work this one out.
Any ideas? Or should I just return for a warranty exchange. |

Ok dis is wot u have to do, goto ur profiles and edit the handsfree profile, scroll down to 'Accessories' then select 'New Accessory' then choose 'Protable h-free' click ok and save where appropriate. Now when u plug ur hands-free in your phone will automatically goto handfree mode and the sound should goto the headset..!
/edit i just figured out if u want the ringtone sound to come through the headset you have to have silent mode on...

that's not quite the problem - though I did follow your suggestions. Seems the connection is a little temperamental - now I'm getting this tap tap tap sound in the handsfree whenever it's plugged in. The only time the sound goes away is when I've pressed the button on the handsfree or I'm making a call. The button still does not work for answering/ending calls |

Well i just tried using my handsfree to answer and hang up a phone call, it works.
When you plug in ur headset does a little window pop up going 'Profile: Handsfree' and is there a small phone with earphones coming out of the bottom icon in the status bar? (i'm not refering to the headphone icon, i'm talking about the handsfree profile icon)
About those sounds you hear.. i dont hear any... |

Yes I do have both the stereo picture and the handsfree now - thanks for the tip - I have some functionality, ie I can press the handsfree button for voice activation, but it doesn't seem to work for answering or ending calls.
As for the buzzing/tapping, it's making me think it's a handsfree or phone problem not just something with the settings. |

Buzzing noise seemed to be worse when voice dialing was activated - settings, general, voice control.
Looks like a faulty handsfree - tested with a k750 handsfree and it seemed to work fine. What are the odds - my USB cable was faulty too.
Two faulty items in one box... NOT GOOD ENOUGH SONY ERICSSON.
