I was trying to find a contact on my list and tried to type in the actual contact name so that it would show me the contact straight away...the odd thing is it doesnt do that...the name i was trying to get to was "sharon" but basically the phone stopped at the first contact name beginning with s which was "sam". I tried it with other names and it works on some but doesnt work on others...anyone else experiencing this? Is this a bug with the current fw? |

It will start with the first entry it finds starting with the first letter you typed in. Then you will have to be rather fast to type in the next letter, (H), and the phone will find the first entry starting with "sh" etc. If you wait a little bit too long, it will find the first entry starting with "h" instead.
However, in the older firmware releases of K700, it was only possible to search for the first letter in any entry, and I have noticed sometimes that the K800 reverts to that behaviour too. Most of the times it helps to make the search once again, so I believe that there might be a tiny bug in the handling of the timeout before a search for a new name is to start. |

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried inputting it quick but its still giving me the same issue. The thing is as I type the characters in, its actually shown on the top of the screen...so I can actually see "Sha" on the top but it still doesn't go past the first S entry. |

I too have this problem, but think I've found a method to it's madness.
When entering two characters to search for a contact, it appears to use the first to search First names, and the second to search Surnames.
For example:
Typing EM (to find 'Emily'), would lead me to 'Ellie M',
and it is only when i type EMI that I am taken to 'Emily'.
I can see the reasoning behind this, but find it to be a very frustrating addition, as even if I do have more than one 'Ellie', I'd type EL, rather than suddenly searching by Surname.

Don't know about you guys, but on my firmware (R1CB001) i haven't encountered that problem yet. |

This may be because you don't have any surname information stored in your phonebook? In which case the bug/design flaw wouldn't show itself.

I don't have that issue either. I do have Surname information in my phonebook (written as a name with a space in the name field, not like in the old T68). |

I actually dont have surnames on 97% of my contact which makes it sound even more odd since the 'bug' shouldn't really affect me but it does...hopefully an updated fw will fix this |
