I'm thinking of upgrading my K300i (Heh, I only bought it because it was pretty) to a W950i. I'd like to know what OS the W950i runs?
Some sites report it as being Symbian, others say it's the normal SE OS.

I'm wondering when it will be released on Orange UK. I haven't heard or seen anything on this phone in ages, and with my upgrade due next month, I was hoping I'd be able to get it then.

I rung Orange's upgrade department today. The P990i and M600i should be out next month. I will therefore assume the W950i will be out then as well or October (Possible Christmas Present?) as SE have sorted there problems out now with the software and the due release date for the W950i is September. I didn't ask them about the W950i but that's what I will think will happen.

I just realised it has no camera!

Where's the logic in that?!

Well, this phone was made to target those hard-core music personality, so camera is not a big issue to this phone. Or else it would beat down M600

Well I'm a big music fan, but I still appreciate the ability to take quick snapshots using my phone.

The phone targets the business men category that are not allowed to have a cam most of the times in different departments. Thus they can keep the W950 with them.

But it's a Walkman phone, surely that's aimed at the youth market?

I think I still might go for it, but I have another question:

How does the keypad work? is it touch sensitive like the LG phone, because you can't see the buttons :S

And also, does anyone have any idea on price (just a guess).

Thanks.

As far as I know, the phone has hidden buttons, not touch sensitive. Basically a rubbery material covering the actual, physically pressed buttons. Hope you get what I'm saying.

If its for hardcore music fans, and it'll surely be more than 500$ US, then shouldnt one get an iPOd instead?

Well the W950 can play movies better, can make calls and SMSs, browse the internet, is a smartphone, looks better, manage email, FM radio, battery life's better, flash memory etc. Not to mention that it's an SE
And what can an iPod do? Play music and videos, and has some extra storage (although no-one really uses that up anyway).
That's why poeple would buy the W950 over the iPod.
Here's another comparison between the W950, the iPod and the N91
