I thought that a Glossary of terms used in the cellphone world might be useful.
Feel free to suggest additions or revisions if I miss something or get something wrong.
Locked Phone: Gennerally refers to a phone that has bee locked for use on one network.
- Unlocking: To unlock a phone to be used on any network.
- Blocked phone: Where a phone has been blocked from making callls on a network/ networks.
- Sim Free: A phone that is supplied without a sim at point of sale.
- Branding: Where a network customises the menus and functions of a phone with their logos, colours, etc...
- Unbranding: Removing the branding on a phone that a network has put onto a phone returning to the phone to how the original manufacturer designed it.
