D750i screen white blank after new screen |

Just installed new screen after cracked old one. Phone seems to work fine apart from screen being bright white. Sounds ok but just can see anything.
Does this sound like I have done a bit more damage than just the screen?
Cant have been me fitting the new LCD - that was easy.
Any ideas?

I know it sounds a bit of a silly question, but did you push to screen connector into the motherboard fully, and make sure it was still in OK when you started putting the phone back together? Also, were there any slight tears or nicks in the ribbon at the bottom of the screen anywhere?
Could be a problem with the connector on the phone mainboard itself, has the phone been in contact with moisture at all - even if just used briefly in the rain, in the bathroom during a bath/shower, etc.?

Hi there.
Yea, That was the first thing I thought as well. I actually stripped it all down again. Un clipped it all. Then put all back together again and still white. Can hear phone still working ok.
No visable rip or tears in ribbons. To be fair I was really carefull doing the LCD change as I have read tht the ribbons are really touchie. All I can think is that when the screen got hit, it may have done more damage than just the screen? |

Have a close look at the phone mainboard contact, see if there's any sign of damage to the contacts, you'll probably need something like a good magnifying glass though.
The other possibility is a software problem, though if the damage happened with a bang to the phone I'd imagine it's more likely to be hardware causing the trouble.
The other option is of course that you've got a duff screen, might be worth contacting whoever you got it from about it, perhaps try swapping the screen.

Gutted if this nw screen is duff. Weird thing is it is bright and all pixels light fine, just no pic |

One of the things that is most important when dismantling phones is to wear gloves. The sweat and dirt on your hands getting on the LCD ribbon will be enough to stop it working altogether, especially if you are nervous about it. However if you open the phone up again wityh gloves and wipe the contacts gently with a lint free cloth then you should be able to rectify this problem.
Ofcourse as Sammy_boy said, It could well be a dodgy screen.

Pixels of an LCD don't light. Pixels are either transparent or opaque. The light you see comes from the backlighting behind the screen. And non working LCD's are usually transparent, so the light comes through and you get a totally white screen.
So, what you see is that the backlight lamp works OK, but the LCD itself does not.
As for why it does not, I am clueless. Maybe when you crashed the screen, some sort of short circuit happened that killed the driving chip.

if the phone vibrates when it is turned on then it means that it is not a software problem so flashing it will not fix it im afraid.
flashing the phone only fixes white screen of death when it is hanging before the phone boots. |
