I know quite a few here are on t-mobile web'n'wakl unlimited data which can be added onto any tariff for £10/month

I'm fed up with Vodafone not offering any decent data tariffs, the best they do to add on to a phone tariff is 50mb for £34.04/month or you can choose a data only tariff of £52 for unlimited but you cannot make calls on that plan.

Useless, totally useless.

So today I have erquested my PAC code and just want some reassurance of the quality of the tmobile unlimited plan and tobe sure I am not missing something

all feedback appreciated! thanks!

Hi Masseur,
although the professional is slightly faster (£10 p.m) my understanding is that this plan has a fair usage cap of 2gig. The professional plan also excludes VOIP and messaging over the Internet Protocol, the ordinary Web N Walk (£7.50 p.m) is apparently slightly slower but is truly unlimited on your phone but prohibits modem access to computers, Internet video/audio streaming services, peer to peer file sharing and Internet based telephony.

Although having spoken to T-Mobile Data support including the guys down @ WDS no one can figure out how the network can possibly know what you are using your connection for. So i think this is just scare tactics by the Network to try and make sure their is enough bandwidth always available. I must say as i am now using an N73 YahooGo gives me push e-mail without any complicated setup procedure and the new Safari based browser knocks the hell out of Opera and i have had no network signal strength problems so far. I know i have said this before but T-Mobile are the new Orange as far as customer services and pricing goes and I am one happy customer.

Marc

Ive just switched from orange to tmobile (after 5 years)

Ive racked up about 100mb of usage in a week. Takes about 4 min to download a 12mb podcast on my k800i. (i was fairly impressed)

Im using msn, set up my pc to use the connection when im out and about ive avoided using VOIP just in case.

Hopefully when my 990 arrives the plan can come into its own, but at £22.50 per month im happy.

Im using the £7.50 w&w plan (i dont have a hsdpa equipped phone and i cant see the point in paying more for the same thing.) and i wasnt aware there was a speed reduction apart from the hsdpa issue.

thanks for the feedback.

I spoke to Vodafone "I'm leaving now what can you do" people and because I still have 2 1/2 months of my commitment left they were not interested in talking to me. They told me to call back when there is only 2 months left but they didn't think they could come anywhere near matching t-mobile so...

I've joined the sim only rolling monthly plan (i.e can be cancelled anytime with 1 months notice) for £7.50 + £10 for the web'n'walk

Hi Masseur,
sounds like you have a no lose situation with no commitment, the only thing is are you sure 2gig will be sufficient and what happens if you go over as from what i have read they may reduce the speed available to you if you constantly go over or withdraw the service. To be honest the speed on the non professional version seems fast enough. How much faster is the professional? and is it worth it?

I really can't imagine using more than 2gb on a handheld device. Vodafone maximum plan as a UAP of only 1gb but you can't make voice calls on plans that give you that much.

I may occassionally use it from the laptop but its not my prime use and since the max I can get with vodafone on a voice calling plan is 50mb I'm heaps better of with t-mobile

I just hope the UMTS availability is reliable, though I'll be spending much more of my time within M25 from October
