Well guys, after not being keen to spend £15 on the official SE desktop charger (as well as disliking the silver colour) I took a look round ebay to see what was there.

I found the following device for around £5 and bought it. It comes on its own with no charger - you use your existing one.

The device is made of fairly good plastic and is matte black - matches well with K800. It has a space to charge a spare battery in the back (both can charge simultaneously I believe). The phone leans against a small ledge and requires no force to put in or pull out - it merely sits on the stand with small pins to position it.

A green light glows when the phone is charging, a red light glows when an external battery is charging.

Build quality is okay, but I find the back port where you plug your charger in is a bit poor, the charger connector tends to fall out if moved too much. This happens more with the new charger than the old (k750 model)

Nevertheless, for £5 it is a sound investment, working as a stand or as a desktop charger. I am sure some people will ignore the charging aspect entirely. I like the fact it is small and allows the K800 to stand to attention. I may even get another one for my bedroom (as a stand).

Here are some photos, showing it can be used with K750 (and similar) as well: EDIT // I couldn't figure out how to create clickable thumbnails using imageshack/imagevenue on this forum so I had to use the built in thing - Sorry.

The use is that I like my phones to be stood vertically so I can see the screen. I often have it on silent so I need to see the screen clearly. Plus if someone has two batteries it is useful. In addition, it is easier (and neater) to just drop the phone onto the stand to charge - meaning it is always fully charged and ready to go when you grab it!

Looks quite a bargain for what it does. What would be handy is if you could plug the DCU-60 USB Cable into it and charge it that way, make it easier for me anyway at work etc. Does that work at all?

I assume you can connect the USB cable into the back of this and sync it with a PC? That's what I use my desk stand for.

Me too. I don't rate the CDS-60 for the K800i though, the phone is a bit too top-heavy for it in my opinion. The phone leans back too much and a slight touch can knock it off, I've had a couple of narrow escapes because of it.

Maybe it's just wear and tear though, because I've had it since the K750 came out.
