who's with me?? I am so close to throwing my phone away because you can't, for some very strange reason (evil stare at Ericsson), turn off the clock screen saver! WHAT?? I work in an office and so I have my phone on silent, I can never tell if I have a SMS message waiting for me, or a call, or even a missed call because of the screen saver. I find every 5 minutes I have to press 'No' to see if anything is waiting, which is both annoying and battery wasting. Even if the backlight isn't on, you can still see if something is waiting there for you, how could they make such a monumental f*** up? should we start a petition?

in fairness this posts reasoning is a monumental fuk up

the reason for the clock is ther for some excellent reasons - as annoying as it is - these are to save battery life, to save your screen from funnily enough 'screen burn', to save on the lcd pixels bruning out as opposed to bein permnanently enlightened with bright colours and of course it handily tells the time

give it up the clock stays fro good reasons

yes its annoying when ya got a real good screensaver n it only shows for 20secs or so but deal with it, its there for a reason !!

good luck in your petition though

BTW, If you got a message or if someone called you, the phone is not displaying the clock for a few minutes, but it will display the message received screen or missed call (without backlight on).

Funny. I think the clock is quite cool and so have most of my mates when they've seen it first time.

I also like the clock and think its a good idea to save battery life and save the LCD from over use.

I do sure that this clock is maybe good for the battery, but no matter for LCD. Also, it should be my choice, to save the battery and see this clock or to see the information on the screen.
You can turn the lite always ON, but cannot turn off this clock, this is not a good style of life...

i think it comes in handy to have a big clock there - i can do without my watch!

it also helps battery life n burning out the pixels n stuff, so as they say:

There is a solution:

If you need it at your desk, just have your charger attached to it. You could even get a nice desk stand at put it in there:

There is a little problem though, after a few hours, when it's done trickle charging, the clock will come back...

i dont see whats wrong with it personally...
and anyway, with say a nokia, the displays light turns off, and you cant see if you have got a mesasge anyway
you have to unlock the keypad to get the light on just to see, just like the humble T68!

okay you work in an office.. plenty of plug sockets around, take your charger with you into work, and plug it in... hey presto, the clock wont appear

There is something that could change...
Leave the clock screensaver but add a symbol for missed calls and one for unread sms'... You now have only the time..
I think it is feasable to add, besides the number indicating the time, the two above mentioned symbols.
This would spare battery but also allow you to see in a glance if you received an important call or sms without having to click "c" and then "NO" to take a look at the screen.

It might be particularly useful since the new phones don't have the small LED indicating messages or calls (although after a while it goes back to normal too).

What do you guys think??
