I've had my K800i for about a month now and I love it! I've almost got it the way I want it but there are a couple of items on the desktop which I don't fully understand.

Playnow: is this just locked to the SE download site and can't be altered?

Internet: this goes to the SE/Google page - can this be changed?

This is my first posting on this excellent forum so please treat me gently!

The only way to change the URL is to change firmware. Operator branded phones may have other links here.

Yes, it can be changed, Go to Settings - Communication - Internet settings - Internet Profiles, highlight your selected profile and press [b]more, select Advanced and select change startpage

Gareb, I need to correct you on this one - its the ONLY forum!!

Should there, heaven forbid, be any others; they're not worth mentioning...

This doesn't work for me. I have set up my selected internet profile with my preferred homepage and this works from the browser key on the keyboard but if I select Internet from the desktop screen I get taken to the SE/Google page.

I have this firmware: Unbranded UK (CDA102511/2) - R1CB001 .

Is this behaviour also locked in by the firmware?

That's true, it only changes the page when you use the button. This is because selecting internet in the menu doesn't open your startpage, it does not connect you too the internet at all. I think this is a good thing as I can now go to the page I want (differs from time to time) directly without loading a complete page first and waste gprs data.

Now that is a good point! I had noticed that there was no connection as the 'built-in' SE page loaded but I assumed it was because it was already in the phone's cache. I can now see that this is not the case. I can understand that this arrangement would be useful to somebody who has just got the phone (but probably a waste of a menu item for me).

In fact, I have my internet button pointing to a web page containing my favourite sites which I've created on my M2 card. So when I press the button the phone loads that page and does not connect to the internet until I make a further selection. This saves me money when my fat fingers hit the button accidentally!
