Im not sure if this has been done before, but being a hardcore SE / Ericsson user, i have decided that enough is enough, why? well one problem that just seems to go on and on is that silly little joystick that is now featured in the K800i!!! Why do SE still continue with this navigaviting device? its terrible, i have had a T300, K500 and a K750, all ended in their deaths with that stupid joystick!!! I have recently purchased the W810i which is joystick-less, i also have a s700i which is joystick-less, theyre bulletproof when it comes to the navigating device. Nokia, samsung, LG and the rest are streets ahead of SE in this area!! So if you want im going to send an email to petition against this silly thing. Are you in or out?

to be honest i never had any problems with those joysticks, ever!
and i have used every one of them.
i like both ways of navigation, so i don't really mind what they do. just keep the joystick clean every day, and you'll see it will last much longer
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

I had my T68 for over 3 years - never any trouble with the joystick and I cleaned it two or three times a year - if i did it at all. It still works, although I'm almost never using it any more. My father owns a T630 for almost 3 years now - no problems.

Now I have the K610 and I expected it to have a joytick, too. But it only looks like one - it's a d-pad. I still have to get used to it.

Maybe just bad luck in your case?

i have tried that, taken off the plastic silver bit of the joystick, and cleaned inside, but its a internal electronics problem, the main teaser is, why should you (the user) have to do this anyway? A phone should be well built and put together and with Sony's brand included with Ericsson, i personally think its been a bit of a disaster for them to join forces. The old Sony phones were terrible, Ericsson phones were brilliant and basically Sony is an excellant and reliable brand name on its own when it comes to electronics but i think its all going a little pear shaped to be honest at the moment with this joint venture. I know several people who had the similar problem with the joysticks and a lot gave up and went to rivals Nokia and samsung, so SE will lose theyre customers if they persistenly include this on their future mobiles.

true kimi, but the K800i is meant to be the top of range mobile, it aint too good if its got that silly joystick back, it actually looks like the one in the K750i, d-pads are the future though. Wakey wakey SE!!!!

Might be, looks very similar... Maybe SE thinks to have found the "perfect" solution ?
Personally I prefer joystick over d-pad, but this is a matter of personal preference. If I had made bad experience myself, maybe I would dislike the joystick, too.

Im ok with the joystick. Dont like pad that much. Never had any problem with joystick and my old t68 still works fine. The one i like best is the p910 weal system.

@Chunkybeats,

Dude. I think you are bit over the top. Your petititon will not make a difference. I am sure SE has done market research regarding the solution that customers prefer most. Second, if you have a car, do you change the oil, wash the windows, do a maintenance program? A phone is no less in need of servicing from time to time. To think otherwise is myopic and sophomoric. Electric devices need cleaning from time to time. How hard is it to get a Q-tip a drop of alcohol, a bit of time (2 mins should do it) and common sense, and you would have a clean joystick. For someone to have that many problems with joysticks would indicate that you might be the problem rather than the joysticks. As for SE losing customers to Nokia, please get real. How many customers come to SE from Nokia based on their design, ease of use, and feature sets?

In short, get your petition going. I am sure the 11 or 12 people you get to sign it will make a difference.

I think that getting rid of the joystick is a bit drastic. Joysticks are so much better for quick navigation and gaming compared to d-pads. Maybe you should just petition for more durable joysticks, like the one found in the K600/K608. Those were flawless.
