Ok so I made a picture for the screen of the K800i, saved it as .JPG but I'm sure I can get it better quality

I used Adobe Photoshop, saved it as a .jpg at 100% quality.

Should I be using .PNG or another image format to get the best quality on the screen? High res basically?

When saving jpeg in adobe save it with maximum 12 quality.

For no compression at all you can use png.

maximum 12 quality? What's that? I don't have that in my Adobe Photoshop - Quality settings go from 0-100

100 being Max

If you already have a JPG file, you're not getting any better quality by saving it as a PNG, or another JPG even at 100% quality setting. You're stuck with what you have.

On the other hand, if you have a TIF file, you can save it as either JPG or as a PNG with least compression, and chances are the PNG will *mathematically* give you more detail (at a higher file size, of course).

JPG works by dithering off the details in an image that the eye wouldnt normally take notice of at a glance, similar to what MP3 is to WAV

Also, take note that the K800 is capped at a 262k colors, whereas JPG and PNG can have more than that. The K800 would then approximate the closest possible RGB value for the color that's off the 262 mark (read: you'd hardly notice the difference)
