In K800 communication options, there are CS/PS options for sending SMS and I just wondered what they were for? |

CS = Circuit Switched = Standard GSM network
PS = Packet Switched = GPRS network
In general use you'd use CS.

sending via gprs would be faster though I take it?
Do these apply when using 3G? |

Why? PS should be faster, shouldn't it? I guess it will cost the same to me.

But then you'd pay data charges which may be more than paying (if you do) for a standard text.

Almost insignificant surely since the 98 items in my inbox take up 11KB...
I remember I used to use "GSM & GPRS" on my T610 and they sent rapidly, but on my K700 & K750 changing this made no difference to sending speed.
It seems to work on K800 though - must do more checking!
EDIT: There is also a PS/CS option on "Data Communication" menu (above SMS Access menu) which i assume refers to internet/wap access?

Other point to note is even if it doesn't cost any more, it will only send the message quicker to the message centre. If there is delays etc there then it won't get received any quicker plus probably at least 98+% of receivers will only be using the standard GSM network so they won't get it faster.
I see your points but can't fathom out any benefits whatsoever.
Maybe I'll have a play about and get back with any results.

True, but it gets it off my phone faster lol!
With K800 it isn't a problem due to background message sending, but on previous phones I did used to dislike staring at that "sending" animation before I could do anything! |
