I don't know if I am just being silly.
But when using the camera key on the right edge, while in camera mode. I keep turning off my my phone!

I though at first I was being stupid, but on later inspection it appears that they key is also bound to "shutdown". Sure it "might" make sense to have this when in "usual mode" - but when in camera mode also!

Sure to shutdown, you have to hold it down for a little while. But when figuring out auto focus etc. It becomes incredibly annoying!

Other than that, great phone!

My k800 camera button is only for the camera. If you hold it down it takes a picture and that is all. It does not have anything to do with shutdown on mine.

I also cannot reproduce this problem and I have tried holding it half way (i.e. focussing) for a long time and fully depressed, both with the camera cover open and shut

how do you hold your camera?
the on/off button is top right when in portrait view and when in landscape its top left, my fingers don't really go anywhere near it and definately don't press it in acidently. i'm confused as to how you hold ur camera?

i've got an orange K800i, so it'll be : R1CB001.

the picture taker button is definately not the power button. i've tried pushing it in all ways possible and it still won't turn the phone off.

Holding the same way as in the picture in the forum under you alias (boman1882)....

though this morning it also seems to be tuning itself off byitelf - even on charge.... bugger I think I may need to return it.

intersting just as I type this message, the battery has reported itself very low... I might just laeve it one charge a little while and hopefully it fixes itself.

A little more info: pressing the camera button, while NOT in camera mode takes me too a screen saying "shutdown", "keylock", "silent" and a bunch of profiles.

Leaving it on that screen without pressing again seems to timeout and shutdown. [EDIT: I lie, it just gos into standby - but pressing again shutsdowns]

Pressing again also shutsdown.

So I assume when in camera mode, holding the button down is shutting it down.

thats exactly what i get if i press the little (!) button on the top right of the phone, i think your phone is faulty. perhaps the wiring is wround and they've hooked the button up to the wrong switch by the soudns of things.

Think I've figured it out!

When pressing the camera button with a "flat finger" it takes you to camera mode.

But when pressing the end that looks like a "film strip" with your nail it takes you to a shutdown screen.

But that still seems really crazy - like you said, it sounds like a wiring problem.

Running R1CB001
I assume from the UK - it was a o2 upgrade.

I just did a keyboard test on the service tests menu >*<<*<*

Sometimes when pressing the camera button it reports as ON/OFF...
now that can't bee good!

Paid £50 or so, so not too bad.

Managed to get a pretty sweet deal - was haggling with the guy
for 30 mins... he went of to talk to his manager 3 times.

Got 600 mins (or was it 400 can't remember)
500 texts
and 2 MB data transfer for 2 months.
12 Month contract for £25

Seeing as I hardly used the phone before (on a online 100), not too bad a deal.

Yeah, used the keyboard service test.

bas&%$.
i lost my phone 14days before I was due to upgrade.
they said i had to pay £45 to upgrade early, and offered £25 for 400mins and 500txts but that was it said the the phone would cost me £79.99. i was previously on online O2 200, and they said i had to spend an average of £50 a month to get that phone for free, and i was like I'm not paying for a new phone.
So i reduce my tariff to £20 and am cancelling in 30days.
went out next day to shops picked up K800 in orange shop offering best deal where i traded in a Nokia 3210 for £100 credit on account, and bought K800 for £50 on a student package, 200mins 1000txt and 3 months of 30 vid calls and 1000MB per month .
and I called orange up after about a mistake in the orange book and they gave me another £20 credit on my account for the inconvinence.
therefore i like orange and don't like O2.
