By next year you’ll be able to pay simply by swiping your phone a few inches from a cash register,with the new wireless standard called "Near Field Communication". An NFC chip in your phone will send your credit-card number stored on your phone or on the chip by way of short-distance radio waves.

I use my cards for everything so this would be ideal for me personally....won't suit everyone i know but its the way forward i think.

I think chip and pin will still be used on this system so it will be quite secure.

Well, my phone replaces pens, calculators, notepads, torches, etc, why not the humble wallet?
IMHO there will be some measure to protect your cash if you lose the phone. Type a pin number into the reader for example makes it just as secure as an atm card.
