Problem with Disk2phone |

I usually transfer music to my K750/W800 via my card reader and disk2phone. But for some reason last night the program kept locking up and being unresponsive.
This morning it was working really slow and when I managed to put some tracks in the transfer list, I was told that there wasn't enough room on the card. It is a 2gb card and it wasn't even half full. I had deleted a lot of music recently and in the removable disk column it was still showing a lot of music that I had deleted.
The only way I could get it to work properly was to format the card and then reconnect it to disk2phone using the usb cable so it could create the "music" folder.
It all seems fine now.
I have tried using drag and drop into the music folder directly (and tried myphoneexplorer) but the phone doesn't always recognise the files, or the Artist/album information ends up being all wrong.
What do you guys use?

I've got a w800i here, and have recently started to use Disk2Phone software and personally all i can find it does it put it in little folders that are called unknown artists! It does come through very very slowly.
And btw you should nevere ever format your memory stick via the computer, always by the phone.

I just got my w810i days ago. I tried to rip a cd and transfer songs to my phone but the D2P software doesn't recognize any phone connection, even if my phone is being recognized by the PC suite. So right now, I'm still using ITunes to rip songs then drag and drop to my memory stick Mp3 folder.

I also downloaded and tried disc2phone, with little or no success. it would not recognise half my selections. So now its been put in the 'good idea but useless' folder. I think i cured it by using media player 10 instead, the other option would be to drag n drop the whole album then delete any u dont want. Formatting of any memory should only be using the phone it is installed in, and never via a computer. Possibly your problem centres around u using a card reader to transfer data. I have no experience of these as I use bluetooth or drag n drop direct to the phone via the supplied cable. PS if any one fron Sony reads this, Disc2phone is a good idea but would be better if it converted any music to mp3 automatically from any other format during the transfer!!! |

@steele - got a variation on your issue - a laptop at work will see the
phone (phone mode or transfer mode) but not the card !!!! |

I don't agree that's the problem. Using the card reader is much quicker. I can't use Wmp10 as it automatically converts files to WMA which the phone won't recognise.
Regarding formatting the card. I have owned a Nokia 6230i with a 1GB mmc and was told to always format card using comp and card reader and never using the phone.
Is it just different with SE phones?

just make a folder on the desktop (name of the artist) , then create another folder inside that (albumname) then drag and drop all mp3 songs into the album folders , eg:
Artist:50cent -> Album:Get rich or die tryin: windowshopper.mp3 , hustlers ambition.mp3 ,
works fine for me

Windows media player can be set to save any music ripped to M P 3 !!
Then just drop and drag using the Sync function. Music from PC to phone and no need for disc2phone. Tools > Options > Rip Music > Select MP3 and your off. |

I don't use wmp because while synching it always transfers files to wma format, which the phone doesn't recognise. |

I seem to recall a thread aptly named "disk to phone is sh1t" many months ago. Is there a newer version available now from the version which came bundled with the W800i? because lets face it, this is one awful piece of software!
The car in front is absolutely unique apart from the one behind it which is exactly the same. Murray Walker |

Sorry, WMP does convert MP3 over to WMA when transfering music using the sync function. Try opening your music window and also your phones card memory window and then drag n drop what u need to load up. This should solve it. Hopefully |
