I had a w900i a bit over a week ago. The phone was working perfectly for me, but as i wanted a k800i, i sold it on ebay.
The buyer contacted me the other day saying the phone was faulty. She stated that the only thing she done was charge the phone via usb cable (i forgot to send the charger lol)
Once she took it off usb CORRECTLY, following the manual, she went to turn it on, but found that it had a white screen, and said that once she turned it on after disconnecting, the phone turned it self off as a result. When this happened, she said it released a burning smell. Has anyone experienced this? she is sending it back to me to repair...
And i bought this on ebay, i won an auction from a store and it was brand new. I paid less than it retails for in stores here, but the phone come with 12month sony ericsson warranty.
As i have bought it off ebay and have paid a little less, will the receipt from the store be sufficient to get the warranty, i mean it showing the price and all will the repair centre reject it? And will they fix it or replace it?
thanks
edit: this is what she has said.....
email one: "what really worried me with the phone was that when it switched off by itself it released a burning smell. thats when i realised that the phone must have been faulty (didnt switch on again). i dont want this problem to happen again, everything was done correcty"
email two: "yes a burning smell. it didnt turn on until the morining i rang you up. then all that came up was a orange screen saying "ok" then froze. then the phone released the burning smell again i was worried when this happened. the phone was acting laggy when it was ok but i thought it was normal (very laggy) it took me 30 seconds to open up main menu"

If it something she has done then its her hard luck, why do you need to get it repaired? Your buyer has done something to the phone so its down to her to get it fixed. I would send it back saying sorry cant help.
If your ever selling anything on ebay always put a note saying refunds are not given. |

smells like the old MB got wet in the post and is all frazzled, unless she when using the USB took the Batt out this would corse a backup on the capcitors and a boomo burn bang crash wolop lol her best bet is to leave it on until the phone kills it self send it back and then u give her a refund and throw it at get them to sort it its under warrenty

ive heard of some K750is melting whilst charging, scary stuff...get her to get it replaced, or replace it for her :s
with re to K800i, you will need a proof of purchase for the phone before anyone will touch it for a repair as per the TnCs of Ericssons warranty period, I dont think an ebay reciept will do or a "shop" reciept showing how much it cost, however if its on company paper with contact details on it with price, imei etc etc it may be more plausible and favourable. |

just got the phone now. And yes, i agree, she could have fixed it herself. I did include the receipt for warranty as she requested should something go wrong. Something went wrong so go and do yourself.... and she wants a BRAND new phone, ill see if i get the same problems now...
wish me luck |
