On my way to work on the tube this morning some guy had a running water ring tone on his phone which is quite pleasant compared to most ring tones yet for some reason i found that annoying or maybe its just me?

but considering all the sounds we encounter in a typical day,clacking keyboards, conversations, traditional telephones so what is it about mobile ring tones that annoys us so much?

obviously it's not just grand-dads, unless those two members are grand-dads.

second of all, he's using 'us' as in 'those who get annoyed' not the whole world.

I read an article in a newspaper a few years back, and it said that people get disgruntled or frustrated when other people are talking on their mobiles because we can't hear the other side of the conversation. Subconscious desire to be nosy I guess!

Maybe it's the same deal for ringtones?

I don't really get too annoyed with ringtones. Most of the time it gets drowned out with othr noise anyway.

It deppends on the person. Me for example , i don't have any problem listening to others ringtone. But if his/her ringtone it sounds good and i like that one , i want it too

If he/she is pushing the buttons all the time and they just listen to some ringtones , then , maybe they become annoying .

But this is life people , we must learn to controlate our feelings , and show respect on the others .

regards.

if its an old "nokia tune" in all it's monophonic, beepy glory, i feel like removing the owner's tonsils using the offending phone...

What annoys me is the tendency to wait a while and let the ringtone play itself out a little then stare at the screen a moment or two and then a few more moments, to actually choose between a green button and a red one, is always hard, then finally maybe answer.

Also the fact that vibration alert is never used despite it being a feature added to every single phone for the last few years, to make the situation worse there is an urban legend in Egypt that vibrating eats/erodes the battery, makes the battery life shorter. I'm like how many times do you need to charge you freaking 1100 every week anyways, not to mention if you stopped constantly listening to you monphonic ringtones there would be more battery life for the vibration. And yes we know you have a phone, my phone is older than yours and has polyphonic ringtones and a color screen too

Phew, rant over.
I don't want a signature anymore.

@fatreg
Ringtones are useful for women who keep their mobiles in their handbag rendering the vibration useless (for calls ). Sometimes as well, the vibration is too soft to be felt.
