Yes you do need a 3G Sim to have 3G to work on your phone.

its already released!!!! check the globe website for the settings of your celphone. globe is much better that smart because it uses a 3.5G rather that the 3G. It is much faster.... |

you mean HSDPA? both globe and smart have it but until there are HSDPA handsets on the market, it doesn't make any difference to you. except for HSDPA data cards for a laptop...
that's globe's misleading advertising for you... |

use internet w/c has APN: internet.globe.com.ph
i suggest you use opera mini as your browser coz it compress the file, meaning lower kb per page.. saves you money www.opera.com
i also advice you to use SMART'S internet at P10 per 30mins.. a lot cheaper than globe's

i haven't tried the 3G services either globe or smart since im not in cebu. but ill try as soon as im there. this is because the nearest city that has 3G services for my network is cebu. i dont have the luxury of buying a smart sim yet since i dont want to lose all my globe contacts. ill keep you posted.

Video calling using Smart with my K800i is clear ( on Nokia and Motorola units. I have tried this already. I tried to use Smooth, Normal and Sharp. Of course the sharp setting is the best. |

Globe offers 3G as a standard feature. Go to Settings>Connectivity>Mobile Networks>GSM/3G Networks and activate GSM and 3G. you sould get an icon beside the signal bar once activated.
PS:
If you have problems calling or sending SMS switch back to GSM ONLY. |

I just bought a very hard-to-find K608i and I dunno which menu I could find and access those free video streams of cnn/abscbn and traffic. Any help would be appreciated.
