Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I have a w800i since about 7 months now. It has been working perfectly until now. The problem is that now the battery is not getting recharged after dying out so I cannot use the phone. It is a fairly new phone with an original battery and charger given by SE. What could be the cause of this? Is it the battery, charger or the cell phone?

Is there any way to fix this? I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Try USB charging. If that works, then there must be something wrong with the charger

welcome to esato

have you tryed to push the charger in more of fiddle with it ? it can be a simple problem of the conectors not making good contact between the phone and charger, realtively easy fix. Try removing the battery and placing it back again, may be a problem with the conection from the battery to the phone.

have you tryed charging the phone with a friend's charger or go to a store and ask them to try it ?

if with another charger it doesn't work take the phone to a service center and explain the problem there and what you have tryed to do and hasn't worked. the phone should still be in waranty

good luck

Blow lightly on the gold contacts under the phone, usually does the job the odd time for me.

if lightly doesn't work blow hard but be careful not to spit on it .... or you could take a ear-tampon and clean it with that

@QVGA don't think that you can charge them with the same charger because they use different bateryes ... but i didn't look to much into it ... i may be mistaking

Hi, thanks everyone for the prompt replies. I will try the USB charging. Have already removed the battery and inserted it again, that has not helped.

When I try to charge it with the regular charger, I do get the 'charging' message on the display, after 2 or 3 hours, when I stop the charging and disconnect, the battery bar shows mostly green (60 % to 80 % charged), but this lasts for only 5 or 10 minutes, the percentage rapidly drops until I get the 'low battery' signal, all this in about half an hour to one hour. Something has to be seriously wrong. The only thing different I have done in the last 2 weeks is to use the walkman extensively for MP3 listening, that too I was charging it almost daily.

Does anyone recommend letting the battery drain completely and then recharging? Have read this somewhere. Am trying to fix it myself first as the service center is a bit far from my home. Any idea what the new battery or charger cost, assuming it is the battery or the charger?

Thanks! This forum is great.

well i had a w800 a cuple of days from a friend ... the phone is 6 months old and if you use it during the day it needs recharging each day so that souldn't be the problem with you ....

maybe your batery has shorted out and thats why it's malfunctioning ... really don't know ... you should take the tellphone to a local dealer and ask at least what the problem could be ... don't want to missinform you

hi, I tried charging the phone with the USB, it also does not get charged.

So I guess the problem lies with the battery or the phone itself. What could it be?

I have sent an email to SE, am awaiting their reply. If they too cannot help, will have to go to the service center.

thanks, Black Devil.
Will be taking it to the service center, but that will have to wait till the week end, as mentioned the center is a bit far from my home, I am not free during week days.

In the meantime, as a last resort, am trying to fully drain out the battery, then will see if it gets charged. Right now, it appears to get charged, but then the 100% battery level drastically drops to 4% in just one hour, then the low battery warning signs keep on coming every hour or so, but it stays at 4% all the time. Am waiting for it to completely drain out. So far that is not happenning.

This is very strange, has never happened to me before, have never had battery problems before.

Don't panic yet. Your phone seems ok, i go for battery defect. Im strong on this. If im mistaken so that's connecting problem at golden parts.
Both simple things to solve.
Take you purchase proof to replace the phone, as repaired is not so confident... Good lucky!

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

Does anyone know how long it takes to discharge the battery after the 'low battery' warning comes?

Before I go to the service center on the weekend, I am trying to first discharge the battery fully and then charge it, maybe this works.

Anyway, the phone has been on for over 30 hours after the 'low battery ' signal, it still is not getting fully discharged, the 'low battery' sign keeps coming every hour, the battery level shows anything from 1% to 10%, but it still has not got discharged, even after 30 hours.

Is this normal? How do I get the battery to fully discharge? Does anyone know how long this takes after the 'low batt' warning?

that i don't know ... it's wierd that it holds out that long with long batery ..

something just crossed my mind ... could it be posible that your phone is emiting a false low batery signal ? for example it shows 10% but you actualy have 40% ? in any case the service center has to sort that out ...

in the meanwhile ... play a video on the phone or play some games so it discharges faster ...
