k800i camera focus problem? |

I've tried asking this question in another thread (twice) but got not response.
When using the camera with macro on, does anyone else have problems with focusing? Mine does (eventually) focus properly, but it almost always zooms out to the background 5 or 6 times before it settles and stays on the foreground subject - even if the subject takes up most of the scene....
I've tried different distances and how much of the screen the foreground subject takes up, but it doensn't seem to make a difference - it just doesn't like focusing close up. It takes great shots when it works, but i hate having to labour through waiting for subject i want in focus to be....er....IN FOCUS!!
General camera issue, or is mine just a bit dodgy?

@pinkboy i haven't seen anyone yet to say they have a problem like that,so probably there is something with your phone,i suggest you should try to get hold of another k800,try to make a pic with macro and see if it does the same focusing if not then take your from where you got it and use your warranty

Well, i've found that the auto focus sometimes cant focus. But i havn't got a k750 or w800 to compare with so i'm not sure about the differences... |

There comes a point when any autofocus can't focus even with macro mode! Your eyes can macro mode autofocus but if you look closely at someone, a line of txt for example right up against your face you can't focus on it... as you can't focus back far enough.
Its not a fault, your just getting too close, i think macro mode is like 5 inches away or such. |

Try to focus on things which actually CAN be focused on, eg. if u are taking close shot of a teacup, try to focus on the handle instead of the cup surface, which is flat and smooth and has nothing to reflect back to the camera. For example you cannot focus on a white wall, unless there's some shadow casted on it and you shifted your focus on betwen the shadow and the wall(cos there's some sort of contrast) rather than on the wall itself. Also, try to leave at least 10cm away for macro. Even my old digital camera has macro of 10cm. Too close will result in blur pictures and camera will also not get your artifact focused on sometimes. |

LIke i said before, i CAN get it to focus eventually, so it's not an issue of being too close, or trying to focus on something that any camera (not professional probably) would have trouble with. Anyway, the macro mode is supposed to be used for subjects between 5 and 50 cm from the camrea, and i've made sure of that (i even zoom before trying to focus on some subjects).
The issue seems to be the camera not settling it's focus on foreground subjects every time. I tried again today, and it wasn't so bad as a couple days ago(although the same problem existed), so who knows what the problem is? ANYway, if i keep trying it eventually works, so i know i'm not doing anything wrong.... I can live with it if it doesn't get any worse, i suppose. |
