nokia 80 wins
wifi
reception (quadband)
memory (2 gig max, cheaper then m2, but m2 is suppose to go up to 32 gig)
camera (video)

k800i wins
camera (pics)
music player
battery life(absolutely obliterates the n80)
build quality (the nokia wobbles when the slide is closed, my k800i has no flaws so far.)

ties
UI (s60 is non-existent in the app department right now but if more and better apps come up it'll be a n80 win but for now tie)
without strong 3rd party support the UI's are both relatively the same
screen
video playback both handle HQ video with high frames rates

i've had both i hate the n80.. cause the music player sucked, constant memory errors even with new firmware and the battery life didn't last me a day.

Just a few corrections. While in the photo department the k800 is better I ain't so sure about the video recording ! Also there are hundreds of applications for the s60-v3 OS (same one used in the N80) Just go look on the Prodigits forum. ;-) Greetings from South Africa. Mario

This thread should put more specific topic.
Eg. K800 cam vs n80 cam.

Or everyone start comparing everything, including the packaging.

Remember both fone hav diffrent market.

only app worthwhile was smartmovie and even that isn't needed anymore really.

roriboy: the mlock program is the one I was referring too (or meant to). You just set it up on 1 of the softkeys and click it when you want to lock it.

BlacK Devil: quote "i simpily don't like the phone (hate it allong with 80% of peeps here) and i compare it to what it resembels best .... a BRICK
" I would expect this statistic as this is an SE forum!!!. If you read on a nokia forum you may find a similar statistic but in the other direction.

As for the comments about the K800 looks being better than the n80......the backside of the k800 looks like the backside of an elephant. Yes it has a lens cover but it looks like a bit of cardboard added after the design was finished, the general shape of the front of the phone has been on the go since the Motorola MicroTac era. The n80 is a little differnt it is shorter about the same width and not a lot deepe (but has no lens protection).

But I do keep saying the k800 is a great novilty camera phone but the n80 is a serious great business phone with new applications becoming available every day (still can't wait for the rumoured n83 to come out).

So glad I switched to the N80. (except the battery life - charge every day but that is cos the phone has so many great features to play with.

Just installed route66 sat nav, superb!!!

and another thing

If the n80 is such a bad phone (so you die hard, blinkers SE folks say anyway) why are all sites strugling to give it away for free when the n80 is still being charged a reasonable sum of cash for on the same tarrif.

surely the phones sellers have done their sums and market research and obviously know the n80 has a premium that the k800 obviously doesnt have. Just a thought.

Also, I'll see how many people here can keep their K800 in perfect condition all year, without any moving parts and creaks.

I totally disagree. This n80 is far far quicker than the w800 I had. Sat nav running on the phone recalculates way faster than my pocketpc running tomtom use too.

make the k800 look like another SE bug free mobile, maks me feel better abou the minor issue I have with the n80s battery.

lol.. you guys any your devotion to the n80...

if you want a decent nokia s60 phone the e61, e70 and n73 are way better simple reason is because they all actually have a respectable battery to go with it.

I agree a better battery would be great but it does last just over a day when using full functionality the phone can offer and carrying a spare battery (£2.99 from Ebay) aint a big problem, having a charger at home, in the car and at work to keep the battery topped up is a small price to pay to have THE best all round phone on the market at this moment in time (at least until the N83 comes out next year).

Hope the next offering from SE (last 3 phones t630, k700 & k750/w800 were SE the N80 is my first ever Nokia) has a bit more to offer in competition to Nokia!!!

I dont know why you people are complaining about the N80's battery when i'm sure half of you were former owners of a K700 which had an almost non existant bettery time.

that was a firmware issue...it was fixed and afterwords battery life was normal 2-3 days

my n80 is not able to last the whole day and i've upgraded the firmware twice.

it's only the n80 that has a pathetic battery all the other s60's are quite respectable

K7 isnt a 3g fone and not that advanced as n80. To launch with such a weak batt is insane.

Maggflodd again and this is still ireland, and YO, tv-commercials nonstop for n80 (incl. Brit.-stations like ch.4) as no-kia's 'camera phone' numero uno!!! And I mean BIG emphasis on 'camera'! And i've tried it/printed it: my 'old' k750 is not noticably worse, but much, much faster!!! Just to clarify the 'camera'-bit: it's hyped big-time(here) as THE camera phone!! The n80 that is!
