I've ever repaired scratched plastic before, but I think that it can be solved by a nice paint job. The other alternative is to buy a new outer case for the K800, but I don't think that one for the K800 is availible yet. Otherwise could someone else give another suggestion?
By the way. Welcome to Esato

Suddenly I've got lots of small scratches on my K800i screen. It's been in my pocket most of the time so it's kinda strange. The scratches disort the backlight and are really irritating Is there a way to remove or reduce them? Something cheap (like toothpaste) would be good, has anyone tried it? I know there are lots of polishers like Brasso, Displex and iCleaner but if toothpaste works well I would be really happy.
I've ordered a Martin Fields screen protector so I hope I can get the screen a little less scratched before applying the protector.
Please help!

Displex did't work well on new models i used it on my k750 the displey of k750 and k800 is cover with mirror like glass not like the older models . I read threads abaout wonderful DISPLEX and i only got more scratches. DISPLEX is some kind of acid and burn my keypad . Try to buy new cover! This is the only solution don't waste your money with paste. |

i was the one that posted the reply with toothpaste , a guy on a market told me that to remove scratches from cds , dvds and displays .
i never used it on displays but on cds and ps2 dvds it works like a charm ( you have to use a regular toothpaste (plain white stuff) )
another option was the use silver or copperpaste , again worked good with cds and dvds , but never tried it on a display

Might as well try some toothpaste... what kind of cloth do I need?

Could you post some pics of what the scratches look like?

Using tooth-, silver- or copperpaste is good for "removing" scratches from plastic. But it won't do much good with paint.
Simply because the so-called scratch removers work by gently removing material around the scratch, not the scratch itself. It works by removing, around the scratch, a thin layer of material the depth of the scratch.
Now, do that with paint... and you most probably remove it all around the scratch. And you end up with a big spot without paint.

I've got a small chip in this alloy type panel on my K800 too, after i dropped it in the car. Its definately not plastic... touch it to your lips, see how cold it is! Its not plastic.
Best bet would be a black touch up paint stick, but it will never be seemless. |

Mainly plastic and that ally panel on the front in shiny textured black, same material as used on the area surrounding the keypad on the K750. |
