I'm just waiting for my k800 to arrive by mail and I suddenly thought of something..for those of you who's already got this phone, is it possible to turn off the shutter sound?

on my son's UK O2 version it can be made silent but on my HK sourced unbranded one it cannot
there are 4 camera sounds to choose from on the K800

i think he doesn't want a sound at all for when he wants to take a photo without attracting attention
btw can you add a sound somehow ?

haha yeah that's right, I'd prefer to have no sound at all. Its not like I'm into taking dodgy pics but I just don't really like the shutter sounds.
Thanks for the info though. I am actually buying an unbranded one from HK so looks like ill be stuck with the shutter sound. I hope someone will eventually make a firmware hack like they did with the w500 to turn off it off |

obviously, but as I was answering that part, I thought it interesting to comment on the 4 sounds so that if you get a K800 whose camera sound cannot be turned off then at least you know that you can choose a different sound.
One of those is a totally non camera sounding sound, kind of a squelchy sound

Thats interesting because i bought my k800i on ebay from HK (it came with firmware customised for 'middle east' probably why it was so cheap) and if i turned silent mode on the camera would NOT make a sound. I then proceeded to flash my fone to the HK customised firmware, so that it would recognise chinese. After flashing it when i put it to silent mode there is, like before, NO camera sound. |

nah, camera sound doesn't bother me but will probably be of interest to the original poster

My K800 is o2 UK and you cant silent the shutter sound , so it looks like some K800’s have more features than others |

Mine is also from O2 (online), unlocked minimal branding and no shutter sound when in silent mode!
I have chosen the shutter noise that sounds like a tennis ball being hit. It's hardly noticable when there is any sort of background noise.

Have a look at some of the photo's on my site, they can be quite good (no adult content!) |

hopefully eventually there will be support for the K800 on FAR or something, hahaha. then i can just completely remove the shutter sound like i have on my K750. that'll be a while though, oh well. my dad's in HK and he returns on August 1 with a brand new K800 for meeeee! |
