I'm just waiting for my k800 to arrive by mail and I suddenly thought of something..for those of you who's already got this phone, is it possible to turn off the shutter sound?

i think he doesn't want a sound at all for when he wants to take a photo without attracting attention

btw can you add a sound somehow ?

haha yeah that's right, I'd prefer to have no sound at all. Its not like I'm into taking dodgy pics but I just don't really like the shutter sounds.

Thanks for the info though. I am actually buying an unbranded one from HK so looks like ill be stuck with the shutter sound. I hope someone will eventually make a firmware hack like they did with the w500 to turn off it off

obviously, but as I was answering that part, I thought it interesting to comment on the 4 sounds so that if you get a K800 whose camera sound cannot be turned off then at least you know that you can choose a different sound.

One of those is a totally non camera sounding sound, kind of a squelchy sound

Thats interesting because i bought my k800i on ebay from HK (it came with firmware customised for 'middle east' probably why it was so cheap) and if i turned silent mode on the camera would NOT make a sound. I then proceeded to flash my fone to the HK customised firmware, so that it would recognise chinese. After flashing it when i put it to silent mode there is, like before, NO camera sound.

Mine is also from O2 (online), unlocked minimal branding and no shutter sound when in silent mode!

I have chosen the shutter noise that sounds like a tennis ball being hit. It's hardly noticable when there is any sort of background noise.

Have a look at some of the photo's on my site, they can be quite good (no adult content!)
