Operation Failed - k800i ( |

Hi there,
Whenever I try to open the games or applications folder I get an error message that says 'Operation failed'.
Ive done a settings reset and a master reset. None of these fixed the problem.
Has anyone else come across this? What can I do?
Cheers,

when the phone is on take the battery out, leave it out for about 20 seconds then pop it back in again and start up your phone. If that does not work you may need to reinstall your software or if your phone isn't very old bring it back to where you got it from and get a new one. |

Ive broken 2 K800i phones by taking the battery out when it is still on, although i only took it out because it was on a white screen freeze and no other button worked. How does it still work for you after you take the battery out when it is still live? |

I have the same problem.
File manager/Applications -> "Operation failed"
File manager/Games -> "Operation failed"
Both Application and Games folders cannot be opened (action results in error message "operation failed").
This holds also for these "folders" on a memory card i have tried to slot into the phone.
Furthermore, any attempt at installing a new midelt throuth the wap browser fails. Presumably for the same reason. Removing and inserting the battery while the phone is on made no difference (I fail to see why it would).
A hypothesis is that something has made the JVM die, and not recover even after a factory reset. Either the media the JVM is running off or by default trying to access must be corrupted, or something is not re-initialised during a reset.
It is of course very invonvenient not to be able to install or access java applications on the device. A real showstopper bug IMNHO.
I have mailed Sony Ericsson support about the problem.
If anyone can help from this list it would be greatly apreciated!

a f/w update is not viable at the moment as there is only 1 version available. I would take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement as it is still under warranty. A simple flash should do the trick but i would say if you have warranty use it. |

I've got this problem at the minute, its absolutely horrendous and has been doing my head in since last night. I really rely and depend on my Applications and Games as well. They are two of the main features why I bought the phone.
Does anyone have any idea to fix this problem? I've got R1ED001 firmware update on O2 - did that through SEUS. Should I update through Wotan to the newest firmware, can you do this through paypal to get an account?
This is extremely irritating bug. I'm on O2 Contract although do not have Insurance with O2 but merely the 24 month warranty with Sony Ericsson. Should I phone them and discuss with an operator or am I wasting my time?
Also. If I do a firmware update via wotan, does that mean that I will no longer be able to use SEUS again?
Appreciate any responses given. |

I've had the same problem twice on an O2 K800.
First time it happened (within a month of purchase) I phoned SE and they said return it to the shop which I did and they gave me a new phone.
It recently happened again (I've had my phone since July), so I decided to upgrade the firmware through Wotan and everything then worked fine again.
If you do upgrade via Wotan, make sure you backup everything you need as you lose everything that is saved on your phone. Also don't forget to backup your Calendar and Contacts.
Use MyPhoneExplorer (http://www.fjsoft.at/) to backup your Calendar and SMS Messages. There's a feature on the phone to backup you Contacts (See Contacts -> Options -> Advanced -> Backup to MS)
My understanding from reading this forum is you will be able to update via SEUS after performing a WOTAN firmware upgrade.
Please be aware that if you update via WOTAN you lose all the O2 branding.
Good luck!
