I think the best PDA forum is http://discussion.brighthand.com/

You may want to wait for a while before buying a PDA, as
Fujitsu-Siemens is expected to announce an XScale Pocket PC PDA with built-in Bluetooth soon.

http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/rl/products/handhelds/pocketloox.html

These images really look amazing.

I think it will be the best PDA to use with your T68 and Bluespoon. Cheers.

Good luck!

Hi,

I think most people are interested in the iPaq 3870 because of its Bluetooth 1.1 compliance. It supports the following Bluetooth profiles.

• Object Push
• LAN Access
• Generic Access
• Serial port
• Dial-up Networking
• File Transfer
• Service Discovery
• Generic Object Exchange

It does not support the "Headset profile". It means that you can't issue voice commands using your Bluetooth headset in case you need that kind of functionality.

Intel has announced new XScale processors for PDAs and mobile Phones. The PXA250 XScale processors have built-in Bluetooth support. I think we may soon witness the launch of several devices powered by XScale and Win CE.NET. I am sure that an Xscale PDA would be a great device for browsing the web through T68. Cheers.

REAL : I actually just bought the Ipaq H3870 with built-in bluetooth.

E.g if you have a digital camera that uses cf-memory cards,..you can get a cf-jacket for the ipaq.
Thats what I'm going to do.

A few places to go:

http://www.pocketpcwriter.net
set-ups and more.

http://www.ppcsg.org
really good place too.

And yes the Fujitsu Siemens LOOX looks nice too, good features too
But if you're looking at the design,..I dont think, that the LOOX is as good looking as the Ipaq H3870 or e.g. Palm M505.
But then, thats only my opinion

Hi Jan,

Have you tried this ultimate combination of devices, i.e, the T68 paired with the iPaq 3870 and a Bluetooth headset?

Theoretically speaking, you should be able to lookup the contacts on your iPaq, dial the number through Bluetooth, and use the Bluetooth headset to talk without ever touching your T68. Unfortunately, this scenario DOES NOT work.

The problem is with the T68, as it cannot communicate simultaneously with Two Bluetooth devices. I don't know whether they are going to fix this problem in the future software releases. However, I think there is a solution to this problem as you own a HBH-10 with a Bluetooth adapter.

What about pairing HBH-10 with the adapter and using the adapter with T68? In this way, you can pair the iPaq 3870 with the phone and have two simultaneous Bluetooth connections to the phone. I think this solution might work and allow you to make calls from iPaq without touching the phone. I can't try this solution, as I don't have a HBH-10 headset.

I would like to know whether anyone else has tried this amazing combination of devices. Even people who own iPaqs with Bluetooth sleeves or other PDAs with Bluetooth CF cards can try this solution, if they own a HBH-10 headset. Thanks for your time. Cheers.

Hi,

This article shows "how to use the Running voice 1.1" to initiate calls from your iPaq through Bluetooth. It doesn't solve the above problem. You still can't use a Bluetooth headset. However, you can use a T68 with a wired headset.

OWIZARD > I dont have the adapter
The adapter was taken out of the box, when I bought it,..of course I then didnt pay for it either

So I cant even try this out. Another thing is, the adapter is meant for non-bluetooth devices,..so you could get some problems there (menues and others),..I think it would probably screw it up,..but I dont know ???

The headset only have one bluetooth profile, and thats "audio".

I havent tried it out yet with the Ipaq. I dont have the Ipaq with me right now. Picking it up next week

BTW: just bought a Anycom bluetooth card for the laptop,..hehe. Havent installed it yet.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the response. It seems you can use SIMPLECALL from visual IT to solve this problem.

http://www.visualit.co.uk/simplecall.htm

Mr Quek, who is the editor of www.ppcshowcase.com, promised to post the SIMPLECALL solution at his website this week. Cheers.

Owizard > thanks I'll have a look at that too

Still waiting to get the Ipaq,..really annoying,..but Denmark is not the right country for pda's, hehe. We dont have enough of them.
If its not here soon,..I'll be cancelling my order with the danish company, and buy it at Expansys instead. I believe the have the Ipaq in stock.

I currently use my Palm M505 with my T68 and it works fine. I use the following functions:

1. Sending/receiving contacts to/from T68
1. Sending/receiving calender items
2. Sending background images and ring tones
3. Surfing WAP/Internet sites

All sending and recieving is done via IR at the moment, just waiting for the new Palm with built in BT to come out.

Keyboards are available for the Palm M505 but it is not so compatible with Digi cameras at the moment unless the camera has IR, the expansion media (MMC/SD) in the Palm is very good but devices are scarce at the moment that support it.
I may change to a Sony Clie next time as this supports memory stick and I have a Sony Digi camera. You can also get a Memory stick camera and BT card for it!

Would'nt buy a Pocket PC because it's the same old Microsoft... crashes too often! plus theres far more software available for Palm OS.

JC007, There is a software posted in palmgear.com that allows you to synchronize your contacts with T39. I believe it should work with T68 as well eventhough i have not try it myself. If you try it, could you post the result here....

Hi,

The article promised by Mr. Quek is available now. He used the Mphone 2.0 software from Mobem.

Now, it is possible to lookup the contacts on your iPaq, dial the number through Bluetooth, and use the Bluetooth headset to talk without ever touching your T68.

You can use the iPaq 3870 or any other Pocket PC device (HP 568 etc.) with a Bluetooth card. This is probably the most exciting application for the "T68+Pocket PC+ Bluetooth headset" combination. Cheers.
