dead pixels on my k800i |

well, this is my second k800i since my first one just died on me after 5 days of owning it. Good thing, i purchased it with warranty from an authorized distributor. I just happened to notice my second unit having 3 small dead pixels. It's not obvious unless its a black screen of course, but do you think that this is normal? Do you guys have some dead pixels on your k800i? if not, im surely gonna ask for another replacement unit if you guys says that i should be bothered. Thanks

It is not normal for phones to get dead pixels. The K800i has more pixels than a lot of phones so statiscally it is more like likely to get the odd dead pixel. If you get one or two there is not much that can be done but if get nmore then I would consider taking it back for a replacement.

thanks for the comments.
well, went to my official distributor to have it checked. However, they said that won't replace the whole unit itself because its a replaceable part of the handset. Even though it was under warranty, they would just replace the display unit of my handset. Since its a new model, they still have no parts for the k800 so the service rep told me that he would call me as soon as the parts arrive. I believe i could settle for a display replacement as long as its still original parts and that there would be no dead pixels in the new screen. What do you guys think? Thanks again.

As you can still use the phone with the dead pixels, I'd wait for the screen and allow them to replace it then. It's not going to be difficult, and you'll still have the warranty in place.

you have a 2 year warranty with the phone so hassle them for a replacement, its not your fault that a, its gone wrong, and b, there are no parts yet as its so new! |
