Could it be that the forthcoming z550i has A2DP enabled via a firmware upgrade? I want to know this because I will be choosing between either the z710i and the z550i. I like the z550i better because of its design. But the z710i has A2DP out-of-the-box.

I don't think it can? I'm pretty sure it has to have the hardware as well as the software right?
If you want to listen to music then the W710 is a better choice anyway and a higher range model if you can live with the styling, have you seen one in the flesh yet as it may look better. |

 doesn't usually add new functionality that was not originally advertised at announcement time
so the end result is that is highly unlikely to get A2DP in any firmware upgrade
