K800i sim free - Hide my Number missing? |

Hi,
I purchased a sim free SE K800i from Fone Planet in the UK last week, and the manual says there should be an option in the Calls tab of the Settings menu to Hide my Number. I have used this on every SE phone I have ever had, and found it odd that it is missing from this one.
I contact SE who have said that on a sim free phone the option should be there. The only way it wouldn't be there is if the network operator had disabled the option when they branded the phone. As this is supposedly an unbranded and sim free phone, that means the options should be there. I'm starting to think that my phone is actually from Germany, and has actually been debranded and unlocked. There were mostly German leaflets in the box which was not sealed, and the manual was in English and it did have an English charger in the box. However, there were a number of WAP & MMS settings already on the phone that are definitely not UK settings which I had to remove.
Has anyone else bought a sim free K800i in the UK and could you please confirm that you have the Hide my Number option available and if you had German leaflets in your box? I need to know this ASAP if possible so that I can return the phone if it has been debranded. I have about a day left to make the decision.
Thanks :) |

Bought mine from Expansys, definitely a UK sim free model, no german leaflets in the box, show/hide no. is in the correct place and works fine. |

I'd be getting on to the place you got it from rather than SE |

As it turns out, it's T-mobile's fault. They have a setting on the sim card that disables the hide my number options on SE phones and they won't enable it either. If I put other sim cards from other networks in the phone the options appear again. SonyEricsson support eventually figured it out by testing a t-mobile sim with one of their support k800i models they have available.

Who knows? Because they don't have a real clue maybe?
All I know is that their tech support wouldn't even consider doing any kind of sim update for me because they don't sell the k800i yet. Never mind that it is a sim setting and not an actual phone setting they would need to send. |
